Book Review: Gone Girl – Gillian Flynn

WOW.

I honestly don’t even know where to start when it comes to this book. How about the way I came across it? I’m an avid fan of Ben Affleck (Nick) and Boyd Holbrook (Jeff) and so when I heard about this book ‘Gone Girl’ which is being adapted into a movie with two of my favourite actors set to star, I just had to read it.

Now I wasn’t the happiest about this as I’d heard a lot about it and knew it wasn’t exactly a romantic novel, which is usually the only genre I read. I know, I know…

Anyway I decided I’d just read it and see what the big hype was all about, and BOY am I glad I did.

This book will hands down go into the pile of books I personally consider great. I wouldn’t even know how to explain what type of book this is to you but I can say it is unlike any other book you will ever read because it is so clever.

I’ve read thousands of books and the majority of them start off strong and then lose the magic half way through, most of the time because you can tell the author didn’t plan out the book properly. This is the complete opposite, where you know the author Gillian Flynn (I bow down to you) has carefully constructed this book and thought out literally everything.

Gone Girl is the first proper mystery/thriller I’ve read and thanks to this book I will definitely venture into the genre and see if anything else captures me like this did. (I don’t have much faith that anything will though because this has set such a high standard.)

Now, onto the story, there’s not much I can say without fear of ruining the book for those who haven’t read it yet. The blurb pretty much tells you all you need to know with the rest being explained within the first couple of chapters. Lets just call it a complete mindfuck.

What I loved about this book?
– The way the chapters are set out with alternate point of views, you could say. It was fresh and a nice way to differ from the usual one point of view you get.
– Nick, the main character. He was definitely the most realistic yet interesting character I had come across in a book in a long time. I also felt like some things that he would do were very similar to what I would do, which is rare when it comes to books nowadays.
– Amy, this woman. WOW, so well thought out. I can’t say much more but kudos to Gillian for creating the most complex character I’ve come across.
– The pace was awesome, it was literally perfect. I never felt like the book was dragging and it kept me on the edge of my seat and screaming out loud at certain points.
– The Ending. SLIGHT SPOILERS
[Now I understand that some people really didn’t like the ending but for me it was the icing on the cake, it made the whole book even better. It was realistic in a way yet it also keeps you questioning months after you’ve finished. It’s an ending that will stick with you for a long time which is something more authors need to start writing. I don’t know if I speak for everyone when I say this, but I’m sick of the whole happy ending thing.]

All in all, this book was waves above my expectation and I’d recommend it to pretty much everyone because I went into it, thinking it wasn’t my cup of tea and came out of it a hard-core fan.

You won’t regret it.

Casting: Fifty Shades of Grey Movie

Adaptation, Book to Movie, Casting
Luke Grimes, Eloise Mumford, Max Martini, Victor Rasuk

Luke Grimes, Eloise Mumford, Max Martini, Victor Rasuk

With production to start in less than a week you can imagine that fans of Fifty Shades are in a frenzy because there’s still vital roles that haven’t been casted yet.

Don’t worry, I’m here to inform you on who has been cast and I’ll be letting you know asap on when the next casting news is released and who’s been chosen for roles like Christians parents, Ana’s Dad and Mia etc.

For now we know that Jamie Dornan will play Christian Grey and Dakota Johnson will play Anastasia Steele. Also Jennifer Ehle will be playing Carla aka, Ana’s mother.

Elliot Grey, will be played by Luke Grimes, which I personally think is fantastic casting. Kate, best friend to Ana will be played by Eloise Mumford, and even though she’s no Blake Lively I’m not too fussed with this, as Eloise is pretty enough.
Victor Rasuk will be playing Jose, the other best friend to Ana, and Max Martini was chosen to play Jason Taylor, Christians bodyguard. Let me just say, the latter is perfect casting for me as he is exactly how I imagined Taylor.

So there you have it, there’s your core cast. Now, we only have Christians family left, and a few other characters but it seems the movie is shaping up as we speak.

Your thoughts on casting so far guys?

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire – Review

Adaptation, Book to Movie, Movie Review
Catching Fire, Katniss

Catching Fire, Katniss

The Hunger Games was a movie that took the world by storm, it’s the only YA movie adaptation after Twilight to have the same kind of success money wise but unlike Twilight (which let’s face it, was mocked by critics everywhere) THG managed to garner great reviews.

I was one of those crazed fans in love with Twilight and every other movie adaptation of the YA genre so when THG came out, I was eager to see the movie after reading the book. I had a few problems like the casting for starters, (Josh Hutcherson I’m looking at you) but I enjoyed it nonetheless, even though it did drag on at some points.

Now, onto Catching Fire the second movie which follows the second book in THG trilogy. I was even more pumped to see this than the first because I’d fallen in love with Jennifer Lawrence after THG, which meant I had higher expectations for CF, and boy, oh boy did the movie meet my expectations.

I’ll try my best to keep this spoiler free for all those who haven’t seen the movie but I’m assuming that you’ve watched it, or at least read the book.

CF had everything; humour, romance, mystery, action, suspense and even a little horror in some places. Everything was on a different level and I have to say Francis Lawrence did an impeccable job with adapting the second book, an even better job than Gary Ross did.

With CF some of the past tributes were sent back into the arena, we weren’t given a lot of background into them but I think we were given enough. Two that definitely stood out to me from the beginning were Finnick (Sam Claflin) and Johanna (Jena Malone).

Johanna is a breath of fresh air and definitely someone who infiltrated some humour into the movie, humour that wasn’t always so blatant which made it even funnier. Her, I don’t give a fuck attitude was awesome to watch.
Finnick is a great mixture of someone who’s almost trying his best to be a hero but struggling with his own demons at the same time. Which was cool to see, as it doesn’t take you away from Peeta’s blatant heroism and it shows some difference between the two who have quite a bit of screen time.

I guess that’s another thing I really like with these movies/books. The author has managed to create so many characters but give them all different traits which really help with building a world inside your mind.

Katniss was her amazing usual self, and I could really feel her struggle in this movie. You watch the movie and you can’t help but feel sorry for her because you know she’s got the weight of the world on her shoulders. Jennifer Lawrence once again wowed me with her ability to emit so many emotions at once.
Peeta, who I wasn’t too keen on in the first movie stepped upto the mark with CF and I thoroughly enjoyed Josh’s performance. I now get why he was chosen to play Peeta, although I still think Evan Peters would have been a better choice.
Gale, has a bigger part in this movie than the first but I fear that it still isn’t big enough to make you feel any emotion for him. He almost seems like a badly used plot device that is being used just to create a love triangle. Hopefully with the next movie people will have a better understanding of him as his part is exceedingly bigger in Mockingjay the book.

The overall plot was fantastic and the movie explains everything pretty well, the twist at the end was infact shocking to me because I hadn’t read the book yet so that was great. I literally gasped out loud which I hardly ever do watching movies because they can be predictable.

My favourite scene which if you haven’t seen the movie I think you should look out for, is the first time Katniss and Peeta visit the districts and see Rue and Thresh’s family. Heartbreaking scene which I commend Jennifer in. My second favourite scene is the jabber-jays scene with Finnick and Katniss, the bit where she’s screaming against the glass plate is absolutely breathtaking, I could feel her pain.

Catching Fire will a hundred percent go down in the list of my favourite movies.
10/10, a brilliant must see.

Let me know what your thoughts on the movie are, down below.

Pilot Review: Witches of East End Comes to TV

Adaptation, Pilot, TV Review
(l-r) Rachel Boston, Jenna Dewan-Tatum, Julie Ormond, Madchen Amick

(l-r) Rachel Boston, Jenna Dewan-Tatum, Julie Ormond, Madchen Amick

‘Tis the season of Witches.
This year we not only have the spin-off of The Vampire Diaries, The Originals which will feature witches, we also have the new season of American Horror Story, which is called Coven respectively as it’ll also feature witches.

But before all of that, we have Witches of East End, which is a tv series based on Melissa de la Cruz’s first adult novel of the same name.
The first season will have 10 episodes which will air on Lifetime, with the Pilot airing last night (10.6.13).

I had a chance to catch the pilot and I am nothing but impressed. I didn’t have much expectation going into this so I was shocked when I found myself enjoying it immensely.
If I had to describe it, I’d say it’s a mixture of Charmed, Practical Magic and a bit of TVD with the love triangle between brothers.
But don’t be fooled. Just because it can be related to other magical shows, don’t assume it’ll be a rip off, it has enough of a storyline to stand on its own and its definitely something you’ll enjoy if you’re a fan of supernatural shows, especially witches.

So the back story to this, which you find out in the pilot is about a family of witches, two daughters, their mom, and her sister who are all cursed. The two daughters have no knowing of being witches as everytime they found out in their past lives, they’d die because of magic, and then be re-incarnated immediately after, so this time the mom decides it’s best to keep it a secret. Which you can imagine doesn’t last very long.

Freya (Jenna Dewan-Tatum), is the youngest of the daughters who’s a carefree bartender engaged to rich playboy Dash, only a night before their engagement party, she dreams about another guy, her perfect guy; who turns out being Dash’s brother, Killian. Cue the love triangle between two brothers.
Ingrid (Rachel Boston) is the straight-laced cynic, who works as a librarian and has studied historic witch craft without knowing she’s a witch. I for one know already Ingrid is my favourite character, and I love the library she works at along with her gay friend Hudson Rafferty (Tom Lenk, who is no stranger to supernatural shows as he was on Buffy). I definitely predict big things for this character though.

Then we have the two older witches, Joanna who’s the mother to Ingrid and Freya, and Wendy. They pretty much mirror Ingrid and Freya in which Joanna is cautious and a goody two-shoes like Ingrid, and Wendy is carefree and fun just like Freya.

The pilot is great in which its helped bring to life characters on paper and made them just as lovable on screen. The chemistry between certain characters is electric (Freya and Killian) and it definitely has an old school vibe to it with it being set in a small town.

All in all this pilot is great, and I recommend everyone check it out, it’ll claw it’s teeth into you, I can guarantee you that.

Have any of you seen the pilot? Let me know what you think down below?

Casting: Fallen Casts its Leads – Jeremy Irvine, Addison Timlin and Harrison Gilbertson

Adaptation, Book to Movie, Casting
(l-r) Addison Timlin, Jeremy Irvine, Harrison Gilbertson

(l-r) Addison Timlin, Jeremy Irvine, Harrison Gilbertson

After years of being in post production with little to no news on the book adaptation of Fallen by Lauren Kate, we finally have the most anticipated piece of news, and it’s in regard to the casting.

A few weeks back now, it was revealed that Jeremy Irvine had landed the lead role of Daniel Grigori. I, for one am happy with this casting as Jeremy is definitely along the lines of how I imagined Daniel, as I think he has the knight in shining hero look to him.
This news is quite interesting though as Jeremy was in fact the first choice for Four in the adaptation another YA Book; Divergent. Which eventually went to Theo James after Jeremy declined because he didn’t want to be in a Teen Franchise.
So I’m guessing the script is really strong for Jeremy to decide to take this on over the highly anticipated Divergent.

Moving on, it was revealed that Addison Timlin, who is a fairly unknown actress to me, was chosen as female lead, Lucinda Price.
I personally wanted Jessica Stroup, who is probably too old for the role now, but that’s because I read the books years ago when she could’ve easily passed for Luce with her short cut on 90210.
As I’ve never seen Addison act I don’t have much of an opinion on her acting wise but I do hope they dye her a dark brown, bordering on black for the role of Luce.

Next up, we have Harrison Gilbertson as Cam, which I’m not really happy about considering rumour has it Bill Skarsgard off Hemlock Grove was in the lead for the role of Cam.
His audition tape was also leaked and can be found on Youtube, and let me tell you he was exactly how I pictured Cam to be.
But I guess Harrison impressed everyone more and won the role eventually. I’ll have to wait and see to decide on how I feel about this, as he’s a definite unknown to me.

How do you guys feel about the casting? The movie is set to start filming some time this year with a estimated release of 2014.

Fifty Shades Of Grey Movie: Release Date!

Adaptation, Book to Movie, Gossip

Fifty Shades of Grey, Book Cover

The wheels seem to be turning when it comes to the highly anticipated movie version of Fifty Shades Of Grey.

As of a couple weeks ago we weren’t given much except for a screenplay writer, but recently it was revealed that Sam Taylor-Johnson is set to direct the movie, and NOW, there’s even bigger news, we finally have a release date!

Yes you heard me right, ladies, 1st August 2014 is the day we’ll be able to see our Christian Grey in all his glory.
That leaves us around 13 months till we get to see the movie, which means realistically casting should be set and done by Sep/Oct, and then shooting should commence in maybe Dec/Jan, maybe even earlier?
I have heard a rumour that shooting will commence in Oct but that seems rather soon considering we don’t have any casting done yet.

Frankly I think the minor characters will be cast first, with Christian being one of the lasts because of how perfect the casting has to be, what do you think?

Let me know your dream casting!

UPDATED
The release date has been moved forward to February 13th 2015, which is just in time for Valentines day. Production on the movie is set to start on December 5th, 2013.

EXCLUSIVE: Fifty Shades of Grey Finds Director in Sam Taylor-Johnson!

Adaptation, Book to Movie, Casting, Gossip
Sam Taylor-Johnson

Sam Taylor-Johnson

So it seems as if things are moving forward with the adaptation of the best selling trilogy novel Fifty Shades of Grey.
It can be confirmed that Sam Taylor-Johnson has been chosen to direct the film, E.L James broke the news herself on Twitter earlier.

Now that a directors been chosen, the next stage realistically would be considering who they want to cast as the leads. But don’t expect news to hit within the coming weeks, I reckon we’ll get rumours about who’s auditioned or been asked but I still think actual casting is a long way off.
I’m assuming we know who our beloved Christian and Ana are before the years out. I’m guessing around September/October? Maybe longer depending on how invested the production team are in choosing the right actors/actresses for the roles.

Sam is a director I’ve heard of before but not for her skills, it was because of her love life. Some of you may know she’s married to younger actor Aaron Taylor-Johnson who she has two kids with. Aaron is pretty famous and is a known crush to lots of young girls, he’s also rumoured to be up for the role of Quicksilver in Avengers 2, in which his fanbase will grow massively.

Sam hasn’t really directed much people will know of, the only movie that comes to mind is Nowhere Boy, which was based around John Lennon.
I’m still in two minds about this but hopefully Sam does the movie proud!

What do you guys think?

First Look: Theo James as Four in Divergent

Adaptation, Book to Movie
Theo James (Four)

Theo James (Four)

IT’S HERE.

So we got our first look of Shailene Woodley as Tris Prior a couple weeks ago, and I think it definitely converted the haters, because she definitely looked and pulled off the character well, and that was just a picture.
Yesterday we got our first look at Theo James as Four and WOW.

I have to say, I was kind of sceptical when it came to that casting as I was dead set on either Alex Pettyfer or Evan Peters BUT after seeing the picture, I’m definitely happy about who they chose.

Theo literally looks like Four is described, he is perfect! He explained the picture as, “I’ve introduced them to this world and they’re still in the beginning stages of training,” he says. “At this stage you don’t really know what Four is all about.”

God guys, I am hyperventilating, I literally cannot wait for this movie to come out.

Who agrees with me that Theo is great as Four?

Casting: American Horror Story: Coven casts Emma Roberts

Casting, FX
emma roberts

emma roberts

Season three of the hit FX show American Horror Story is shaping out to be a great upcoming season when it comes to the cast.

With returning members Evan Peters, Jessica Lange, Sarah Paulson, Lily Rabe, Frances Conroy, we get to see our favourites again!
Kathy Bates, Angela Bassett, Patti LuPone and Gabourey Sidibe are also some of the new faces we’ll be seeing in the third season.

Taissa Farmiga, who I’m a massive fan of is also returning after not starring in the season 2 Asylum series, so I’m soo excited for her return.

Emma Roberts has also just signed on for the third season, which is amazing news as she’s one of my favourite actresses and I’m glad to see her back on my screen after the Delirium didn’t manage to get picked up.

Roberts will be playing a self-involved party girl by the name of Madison.

Who’s excited?!
I am!

Book Review: Immortals After Dark 01 – The Warlord Wants Forever

Book Review

Personal Review of Book #1 in the Immortals After Dark Series by Kresley Cole.

The Warlord Wants Forever.

Synopsis:
Nikolai Wroth, once a ruthless human warlord in the 1700s and now a general in the rebel vampire army, needs to find his Bride, the one woman who can render him truly alive. As a turned human, he doesn’t enjoy a heartbeat or breaths and is consequently weaker than fully blooded vampires. He wants his Bride for the power she will bring him and can hardly believe it when his heart beats for Myst the Coveted, a mad, fey, mythological creature.

Myst is known throughout the world as the most beautiful Valkyrie, part chillingly fierce warrior, part beguiling seductress who can “make you want her even as she’s killing you.” She has devoted her life to protecting an ancient, powerful jewel and to fighting the vampires, and she now sees a way to torment one—for with Wroth’s heartbeat comes consuming sexual desire that can only be slaked by her.

She eludes him for five years, but he has finally chased her to ground and stolen the jewel which commands her, giving him absolute power over her. While he possesses it, he can make her do anything, and he plans to in order for her to experience first hand the agonizing, unending lust she’d purposely subjected him to for half a decade. Yet when Wroth realizes he wants more from her and frees her, will she come back to him?

Can I just say, normally after reading a blurb I have to read a few reviews to help me decide on whether I want to read the book or not. Now after reading this particular blurb I knew straight away that good or bad, I was reading this book asap.

Rate: 4/5
Book Cover: Muscled man with tattoos? Yes please.
1 WTD Hero: Possessive
1 WTD Heroine: Sexy

Warning: Spoilers.

So I finally got down to reading the Immortal After Dark series and boy am I glad I did.
A couple years ago I read the seventh book called Kiss of a Demon King (I’ll get down to reviewing that for you all soon) and well I enjoyed it a lot. It was literally one of the first adult books I read and so it introduced me to a lot of different genres.

Now onto this book, wow. Just, wow guys.
I honestly don’t know why I put off reading the rest of the series till this late, I loved both Nikolai and Myst, and it’s a great introductory book to a fabulous series.

Let’s start off with Nikolai, he is everything a hero should be; strong, possessive, loveable and ALL man. The chemistry between him and Myst, fucking hell it was burning up the pages.
Now I understand that he’s pretty controversial when it comes to fans because of the whole ‘he controls her because he has the chain’ BUT in his defence, she does want him just as much as he wants her, and they are mates. I just think going into this book to enjoy it you have to have a pretty open mind when it comes to sexual situations.

Myst is a great female lead character, she’s comfortable in her own skin which dayum she should be, she’s snarky, confident, and oozes sex appeal. She’s a character I personally feel like everyone wants to either befriend, be or bang.
The scenes in which she seduces Nikolai with her body were great! I love a good seduction scene, especially when the womans seducing the powerful, cold, alpha male, and let me tell you, Nikolai was definitely that.

When it comes to the secondary characters I think Kresley Cole has set her series up great. As soon as I read the first book I was on the search for the next books because I was desperate to read the other characters stories. I’m also kind of glad I got into the series a little later because that means I don’t have to wait around for the next couple of books.

Overall this is a fantastic novella story and I definitely think its worth a read.

Be sure to check out my upcoming reviews on the rest of the books in this series!

The only way she can win is if she rips away the protective lies she’s told herself, the hard shell of indifference she’s hidden in, and becomes again what she has not been since she lost everything that mattered to her, years ago: human.

Review:
Slight spoilers ahead!

So I’ve never done a book review before and I’m not sure you guys even want to see one but I don’t care. I have to express how I feel right now and the only way I can do that is through writing.
This book is mind-blowing to say the least. It had me crying, screaming, and because I’m fucked up, it even had me laughing and smiling at some point.
I’m a sucker for a happy ending, or even any kind of ending but this book didn’t exactly have one.
Well it did, and it didn’t.
You’re either going to love how it was finished, or hate it. I surprisingly loved it, but it left me frustrated, there were so many questions unanswered, but don’t get me wrong. It’s still one of THE best books I’ve ever read.

The author has a way with writing, he/she (it was written under a pseudonym) conjured up so many emotions and thoughts in my head, even though not much was given except for conversation, flashbacks and rape, literally.
Another important thing the author was obviously trying to put across was details didn’t matter, description didn’t matter. We never get any names, descriptions or ages of the main characters, instead the focus is on the actual event on hand.
Now lots of reviews I read said there’s a scene where he (the rapist) says the word checkmate, and a lot of people where affected by this scene. Personally I think I had too much of a high expectation so it didn’t affect me as much as it would have, if I went in reading the book blindly.
There’s two other scenes where I teared up a little, and I honestly don’t know why.

1st:
Tell me how much you love me and how we’ll always have each other,” he said. He placed her cuffed hands around his shoulders. “Hold me and tell me.”
She looked at him and shook her head sadly. He moved his face close to hers and licked at some of her tears.
“Close your eyes,” he said, surprisingly, “and pretend. This is your chance. I’m him. Make love to me one last time.”

I think what really got to me was that I could feel her struggle in this scene. She so desperately needed closure and he was offering it to her, but she didn’t want him to know just how weak this whole act would make her. I really felt for her when I read this scene, to me it was very powerful.

2nd:
“I kind of sort of wish I didn’t have to do this. That I could stop. That I could go back in time and meet you some other way.” He paused. “That we could be friends.”
This is pretty self explanatory if you ask me, at the time reading this gave me hope for both characters. Like I said, I’m a sucker for a happy ending and I so badly wanted one for them both but I knew it wasn’t possible. Just like he knew in this scene. It was heartbreaking.

Reading this book you’d have to be pretty open minded, there’s a lot of rape, violence and disgusting things going on, so be warned. I finished the book with a heavy feeling in my chest, I didn’t know how I felt, my mind was literally reeling.
When it comes to the two main characters, let’s just say they’re both incredibly smart. We get pages full of her mind and questions, and when I was reading I felt as if I was her. The questions she asked were questions I’d ask if I was ever in that position, so she felt relatable.
He on the other hand, made me feel so many different emotions. I was angry, scared, sad, hopeful, happy and crazy all because of him. I definitely felt as if there was redeeming qualities in him, but that’s because I’m a sucker for a tortured soul to say the least.
Tate Langdon can I get a what, what?

Who would I recommend this to?
Honestly, everyone.
I’d really like males to especially read this because I’d love for a males insight to this.

If you’ve happened to already read it, comment down below on your thoughts and feelings while reading the book, and let me know if I should do more reviews!

Casting: Evan Peters Joins X-Men: Days of Future Past

Adaptation, Casting
Evan Peters

Evan Peters

Evan Peters has been added to the already star studded cast (Jennifer Lawrence, Halle Berry, Nicholas Hoult, Hugh Jackman, Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy) of X-Men: Days of Future Past.

He’ll be portraying Quicksilver in the second prequel of the X-Men movie franchise.
This news has been released just days after Joss Whedon confirmed that Quicksilver and his twin sister Scarlet Witch will be featured in the next Avengers movie which is set to be released in 2015, a year after the next X-Men movie.

The question on everyones lips is will Evan also be playing Quicksilver in the Avengers movie, or will someone else portray him?

Rumour is Saoirse Ronan is interested in playing Scarlet Witch in the Avengers movie, and considering the characters are twins, I reckon Evan Peters could pull off Quicksilver alongside Saoirse Ronan in the Avengers movie as well as the X-Men movie.

CW Fall Schedule: 2013-2014

CW Show, Pilot

The CW were the last to announce their fall schedule for 2013-2014 but boy is it a weird one. I don’t think anyone could have predicted correctly when it came to guessing which shows they would pair up or on what days they’d air certain shows.

Here it is:

MONDAY
8-9 PM – Hart Of Dixie
9-10 PM – Beauty And The Beast

TUESDAY
8-9 PM – THE ORIGINALS
9-10 PM – Supernatural

WEDNESDAY
8-9 PM – Arrow
9-10 PM – THE TOMORROW PEOPLE

THURSDAY
8-9 PM – The Vampire Diaries
9-10 PM – REIGN

FRIDAY
8-9 PM – The Carrie Diaries
9-10 PM – America’s Next Top Model

As you can tell things have been shaken up quite a bit with nearly every show except for The Vampire Diaries and Arrow being moved to a different date or time.

You might realise that Nikita, The 100 and Star-Crossed aren’t anywhere to be seen and that’s because they’re set for midseason with Nikita wrapping up the series with a six episode arc.
I’m guessing that Americas Next Top Model will finish earlier than planned and then they’ll have Nikita air around late Nov/eary Dec and then finish that for January and then have The 100 and Star-Crossed on Friday nights once The Carrie Diaries finishes its run also.
Wednesday has been set up as the Amell brothers night as cousins Robbie and Stephen Amell both have leading roles in their shows which will air back to back.

Everyone assumed The Originals would air after The Vampire Diaries because of it being in the same universe but I called early on that the CW wouldn’t air them on the same night as by splitting the shows up fans can have two for the price of one in a week.
Instead they’ve paired it with Supernatural which will definitely give it a good chance of succeeding as SPN is a hit show with dedicated viewers.

Reign seems to be getting a lot of buzz as its taken the spot after The Vampire Diaries which is one of the networks biggest shows as of today.

Friday is no surprise to me as with the Carrie Diaries and ANTM they’re both fashion related so they work well together.
With Monday even though its weird that they’d pair a contemporary comedy drama with a sci-fi drama it kind of works as both leading stars are older and familiar to viewers because of being in The O.C and Smallville respectively. Plus those shows aren’t exactly teen shows with the cast being older than usual for the CW.

All in all I think the Fall schedule is a big risk but it could definitely pay off.

Casting: Vampire Academy Casts Mia, Mason Ashford + More!

Adaptation, Book to Movie, Casting, Gossip
(l-r) Ashley Charles, Sami Gayle, Claire Foy, Cameron Monaghan

(l-r) Ashley Charles, Sami Gayle, Claire Foy, Cameron Monaghan

The movie adaptation of the Vampire Academy series is heating up. After casting the leads way back in February and setting a release date for just a year later they definitely have to work hard and fast on casting the secondary lead characters.

With Olga Kurylenko recently being cast as Headmistress Kirova, we now have news on other stars being cast.

Ashley Charles will be playing Jesse, Sami Gayle will play Mia, who goes on to play a big part in the series. While Claire Foy will be playing Sonya, and then Cameron Monaghan will play close friend Mason to lead character Rose Hathaway.

These five recent cast members join leads, Zoey Deutch (Rose), Lucy Fry (Lissa) and Danila Kozlovsky (Dimitri).

Vampire Academy: Blood Sisters is set to start production later this month and will be released next valentines day (14/02/2014)

Casting: Nicole Gale Anderson Joins PLL Spin-Off ‘Ravenswood’

ABC, Casting, Pilot
Nicole Gale Anderson

Nicole Gale Anderson

It seems another actress has joined the PLL spin-off Ravenswood.

Nicole Gale Anderson who can be seen recurring on the CW’s Beauty And The Beast has joined the show as “feisty and disarming” leading lady Miranda.
Described as “a fiercely independent foster kid,” the character is confident but “uses her wits to cover her emotional scars.”

She joins the recently cast Brett Dier, Elizabeth Whitson and Merritt Patterson.
While Tyler Blackburn who plays Caleb on Pretty Little Liars will be reprising his role on Ravenswood.

I’m glad Nicole has finally landed a lead role as I think she deserves it and can pull of being a lead.

Casting: Ansel Elgort as Augustus in ‘The Fault in Our Stars’

Adaptation, Book to Movie, Casting, Gossip
Ansel Elgort

Ansel Elgort

Weeks after The Fault in Our Stars gained Shailene Woodley as the lead role of Hazel, it seems we finally have our Augustus.

Ansel Elgort who was reportedly a contender and my favourite for the role has been offered the role of Augustus. He’s a fairly newcomer but can be seen opposite Chloe Grace Moretz this October in the remake of Carrie.

He also stars with his leading lady Shailene in another upcoming book adaptation Divergent, where he will be playing her brother Caleb.
It’ll be a little weird to see him play her brother in one movie and then her lover in another, I guess that’s acting at the end of the day.

You guys happy? I certainly am. Ansel was definitely my favourite to play Gus.

Pilots: CW Picks Up – The 100, The Tomorrow People, Reign and Oxygen

CW Show, Pilot

The CW are next to announce their pilot orders.

They’ve decided to pick up The Tomorrow People and The 100.
No word on any of the other pilots but I’m rooting for The Selection. I’ll probably cry if they don’t pick it up as it’s been my favourite pilot for the past two years.

Update:
They’ve also decided to pick up Oxygen and Reign. Still no word on The Selection but it looks like its not going to get picked up. I’m just going to go cry now.
Looks like The Selection is dead. With Carrie Diaries and Nikita being renewed it doesn’t seem like they have space on there schedule for The Selection, its rumoured that even though the pilot was beautifully shot, it just wasn’t tv-worthy.

Official Synopsis of picked up series below:

The 100
The series is set 97 years after a nuclear war has destroyed civilization. A spaceship housing the lone human survivors sends 100 juvenile delinquents back to Earth to investigate the possibility of re-colonizing the planet. Based on the Alloy books by Kass Morgan. Eliza Taylor, Isaiah Washington, Henry Ian Cusick, Marie Avgeropoulos, Paige Turco, Kelly Hu, Christopher Larkin, and Thomas McDonell star. Jason Rothenberg wrote and exec produce with Leslie Morgenstein, Gina Girolamo, Bahrat Nalluri and Matt Miller. Nalluri directed the pilot and Miller is showrunner.

Oxygen has been renamed as ‘Star-Crossed’
Passion and politics threaten the peace and an epic romance ignites between a human girl and an alien boy when he and eight others of his kind (The Orion 9) are integrated into a suburban high school 10 years after they and hundreds of others landed on Earth and were immediately consigned to an internment camp where they’ve been imprisoned ever since. From CBS TV Studios, Ole Prods, Isla de Babel and 360 Powwow. Meredith Averill wrote and exec produces with Josh Appelbaum, Andre Nemec, Scott Rosenberg, Richard Shepard, Bryan Furst, Sean Furst and Daniel Gutman. Gary Fleder directed the pilot. Aimee Teegarden stars with Matt Lanter, Malese Jow, Titus Makin Jr, Grey Damon, Natalie Hall, Chelsea Gilligan, Greg Finley, and Maggie Elizabeth Jones.

Reign
The CBS TV Studios-produced drama tells the previously unknown story of Mary Queen of Scots’ rise to power when she arrives in France as a 15-year-old, betrothed to Prince Francis, and with her three best friends as ladies-in-waiting. The secret history of survival at French Court amidst fierce foes, dark forces, and a world of sexual intrigue. Stephanie Sengupta and Laurie McCarthy are the writers/executive producers and Brad Silberling directed the pilot. Adelaide Kane stars with Anna Popplewell, Toby Regbo, Celina Sinden, Megan Follows, Janessa Grant, Caitlin Stasey, Torrance Coombs and Rossif Sutherland.

The Tomorrow People
The Tomorrow People is the story of several young people from around the world who represent the next stage in human evolution, possessing special powers, including the ability to teleport and communicate with each other telepathically. Together they work to defeat the forces of evil. Based upon the original UK series created by Roger Price in the vein of X-Men and Heroes. Robbie Amell, Madeleine Mantock, Peyton List, Luke Mitchell, Mark Pellegrino, and Aaron Yoo star. Phil Klemmer is the writer and executive producer with Julie Plec, Greg Berlanti and Danny Cannon, who also directed the pilot. Melissa Kellner Berman is co-exec producer.

I’m happy that these series got picked up, I enjoyed all the scripts except I haven’t read The 100 pilot script, but even then I enjoy the sound of the premise.
On the other hand I’m extremely upset that The Selection didn’t get picked up, script was great but oh well.
You guys happy?

Pilots: NBC Picks Up – The Family Guide, Sean Saves The World, Believe, Crisis & About A Boy

Adaptation, NBC, Pilot

NBC are the second season after FOX to announce what pilots they’re ordering.
After the news hit this morning that FOX had stated what they’ve ordered for the 2013-2014 tv season, NBC were hot on its trails and I can now say that the following pilots were picked up.

The Family Guide,
Sean Saves The World,
Believe,
Crisis,
About A Boy

But don’t worry, these are not the only series they’ll be ordering, rumour is there’s a few more they’re picking up but they just haven’t announced it yet.

Here’s a rundown on the shows they decided to pick up:

ABOUT A BOY
Based on the best-selling Nick Hornby (“High Fidelity,” “An Education”) novel, comes a different kind of coming-of-age story. Will Freeman (David Walton, “Bent,” “Perfect Couples”) lives a charmed existence as the ultimate man-child. After writing a hit song, he was granted a life of free time, free love and freedom from financial woes. He’s single, unemployed and loving it. So imagine his surprise when Fiona (Minnie Driver, “Good Will Hunting,” “Barney’s Version”), a needy, single mom and her oddly charming 11-year-old son Marcus (Benjamin Stockham, “1600 Penn”) move in next door and disrupt his perfect world. When Marcus begins dropping by his home unannounced, Will’s not so sure about being a kid’s new best friend, until, of course, Will discovers that women find single dads irresistible. That changes everything and a deal is struck: Marcus will pretend to be Will’s son and, in return, Marcus is allowed to chill at Will’s house, play ping-pong and gorge on steaks, something his very vegan mom would never allow. Before he realises it, Will starts to enjoy the visits and even finds himself looking out for the kid.  In fact, this newfound friendship may very well teach him a thing or two that he never imagined possible — about himself and caring for others. Also starring are Al Madrigal and Anjelah N.

THE FAMILY GUIDE
It’s not every family that’s brought closer together by divorce, but then again, the Fishers aren’t exactly typical. Take Mel Fisher (J.K. Simmons, “The Closer,” “Law & Order”), for example. Whether it’s chopping down trees, showing his daughter how to drive or playing football with his son, he’s never let the fact that he’s blind slow him down. Then there’s Joyce Fisher (Parker Posey, “Louie,” “For Your Consideration”), possibly the only mom in Pasadena to smoke a pipe. For her, divorce is like a second coming of age, a chance to be the teen she never was. Just ask’80s-obsessed teenage daughter Katie (Ava Deluca-Verley, “Southland”), whose clothes Joyce is always borrowing. At the center of all this is Henry (Eli Baker), the Fisher’s 11-year old son. Having always been his dad’s eyes, ears and wingman, Henry’s less than thrilled when Mel shows up with Elvis, a guide dog… which is also how Henry learns about the pending divorce. Awkward. While reluctant to the changes this “big ball of fur” would bring, it’s through the adult Henry’s voice-over (Jason Bateman, “Arrested Development”) that we find out his parent’s split would “allow all of us to finally discover…who we needed to be.” The half-hour comedy is executive produced by DJ Nash (“Up All Night,” “Guys with Kids”), Bateman and Jim Garavente.

SEAN SAVES THE WORLD
Sean (Sean Hayes, “Will & Grace”) is a divorced gay dad who juggles a lot — his successful but demanding career, offbeat employees, pushy mom Lorna (Linda Lavin, “Alice”), and weekends with his teenage daughter, Ellie (Sami Isler). So when his 14-year-old bundle of joy moves in full-time, it’s a whole new world. Never one to do anything halfway, Sean’s intent on being the best dad ever, so he loads up on parenting how-to books and plans Pinterest-worthy family dinners. But it seems his company’s new owner has decided Sean and his team should work longer hours, putting a damper on his homemaking plans and throwing a kink in Sean’s perfectly constructed work/life balance. Ellie, a normal girl who wants to hang with her friends and eat on the run, sees this development as a plus. She loves her dad, but he’s clearly going overboard. From keeping his boss happy, his employees motivated and enduring his mother’s tactless “advice” to raising a smart, grounded and healthy kid, it’s going to be a growing experience, to say the least. But if anyone can handle it all, it’s Sean. Thomas Lennon, Lindsay Sloane and Echo Kellum (“Ben and Kate”) also star.

CRISIS
From writer/producer Rand Ravich (“Life,” “The Astronaut’s Wife”) and starring Dermot Mulroney (“My Best Friend’s Wedding”), Gillian Anderson (“The X-Files,”), Lance Gross (“Tyler Perry’s House of Pain,”) and Rachael Taylor (“Transformers,”) comes an emotionally charged, action thriller. It’s field trip day for the students of Ballard High School, a place that educates the children of Washington, D.C.’s elite, top-of-their-industry CEOs, international diplomats, political power players and even the president’s son. But when their bus is ambushed on a secluded rural road, the teenagers and their chaperones are taken, igniting a national crisis. Now with some of the country’s most powerful parents at the mercy of one vengeful mastermind, the question arises: How far would you go and what would you become to ensure your child’s safe return? With so many parents and dignitaries put into play with nowhere to turn and no one to trust, this unthinkable scenario grows from the select families at risk to an entire nation at stake. Also starring are Stevie Lynn Jones (“Battle Force,”), Halston Sage (“The First Time,”), Joshua Erenberg (“The Incredible Burt Wonderstone,”), Max Schneider (“How to Rock,”), James Lafferty (“One Tree Hill,”), Max Martini (“Saving Private Ryan,”) and Michael Beach (“The Game,” “Third Watch”).

BELIEVE
Levitation, telekinesis, the ability to control nature, even predict the future… Since she was two years old, Bo (Johnny Sequoyah, “Ass Backwards”) has had gifts she could neither fully understand, nor control. Raised by a small group known as the “True Believers,” the orphaned girl has been safeguarded from harmful outsiders who would use her forces for personal gain. But now that she is 10, her powers have become stronger, and the threat has grown more dangerous. With her life and future now in jeopardy, the “Believers” turn to the only person they see fi t to be her full-time protector. That is, once they break him out of jail. Tate, (Jake McLaughlin, “Savages,” “Safe House”) a wrongfully imprisoned death row inmate who’s lost his will, is initially reluctant – until he witnesses one of her extraordinary abilities. Bo sees people for who they truly are… and who they may become. Tate and Bo begin their journey, one in which trust must be earned. Traveling from city to city, every place they stop and everyone they meet will be changed forever. But they’ll have to keep going to stay one step ahead of the sinister forces after Bo’s power… because it will take a miracle to keep them safe forever. The powers of a young girl may hold the fate of our world in Believe, from executive producer J.J. Abrams (Revolution, Star Trek: Into Darkness) and executive producer/writer/director Alfonso Cuarón (Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, Children of Men). Also starring Jamie Chung, (Once Upon A Time) Kyle MacLachlan, (Desperate Housewives) Delroy Lindo, (Up, The Chicago Code) Rami Malek, (Breaking Dawn Part 2) and Sienna Guillory, (Resident Evil, Love Actually).

So that’s it for now when it comes to NBC.
I’m so happy that they’ve decided to pick up ‘Believe’ it was literally one of the best scripts I’ve read in a long time and I just know it will be a hit.
I’m also glad they picked up ‘Crisis’, I love nearly every actor in that show from Dermot to James to Rachael.
Comedy wise I like the sound of ‘About A Boy’ the movie was great and I like David Walton who has guest starred on New Girl.
Now I’m extremely disappointed that ‘The Sixth Gun’ was not picked up, that was definitely one of my favourite scripts this year, the premise was amazing and the comic is even better. I really think NBC had a hit on its hands, I have no idea why it wasn’t picked up.

Oh well, what’s your thoughts on the pick-ups?

Pilots: FOX Picks Up – Rake, Sleepy Hollow, Inhuman, Gang Related, Brooklyn Nine-Nine; Surviving Jack, Enlisted, and Us And Them

FOX, Pilot

So FOX seem to be the first network this season to release their intended series.
News broke out that they’ve decided to pick up Sleepy Hollow, Rake, Inhuman and Gang Related.

UPDATED:
FOX also picked up four comedies alongside the already picked up Dads; Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Us And Them, Enlisted & Surviving Jack.

Their other projects Delirium, The List and Boomerang sadly didn’t make it and have not been picked up. I have to say I’m pretty upset that Delirium didn’t get picked up but I read the script and didn’t think it was tv-worthy so I’m glad fans didn’t get a version that isn’t 100%.

Here’s a rundown on all the shows on FOX that have been picked up:

ALMOST HUMAN (working title)
From infamous J.J. Abrams and creator/executive producer J.H. Wyman and starring Karl Urban, Michael Ealy, Lili Taylor and Minka Kelly, Almost Human is an action-packed police drama set 35 years in the future, when police officers are partnered with highly evolved human-like androids. An unlikely connection is forged when a cop with an aversion to robots and a robot with unexpected emotional responses investigate cases in a brave new world. The series is created by J.H. Wyman, who wrote the pilot. The series is executive-produced by Wyman, J.J. Abrams and Bryan Burk. .

GANG RELATED
Gang Related, a gritty new action drama, follows Ryan Lopez (Ramon Rodriguez), a rising star in Los Angeles’ elite Gang Task Force – led by SAM CHAPEL (Terry O’Quinn) — who teams up with longtime Task Force member Cassius Green to take on three of the city’s most dangerous gangs, including one he has ties to. Gang Related is from Chris Morgan Productions, Skeeter Rosenbaum Productions, Imagine Entertainment and 20th Century Fox Television. The series is created and written by Chris Morgan (Wanted, Fast Five).

RAKE
Greg Kinnear makes his broadcast television series debut with the new legal drama Rake, from executive producer Peter Tolan and creator/executive producer Peter Duncan, who created the hit Australian series of the same name. Rake centers on Keegan Deane, one of life’s great addicts, a brilliant and frustratingly charming criminal defense attorney, whose chaotic and self-destructive personal life often gets in the way of his professional one. He takes on the cases that nobody else will touch, ruled by a resolute optimism, belief in justice and dogged determination to defend those who seem beyond redemption – much like himself. Rake is produced by Fedora Entertainment and Essential Media & Entertainment Pty Ltd., in association with Sony Pictures Television. The series is created and written by Peter Duncan (creator of the original Australian series). Sam Raimi (Oz The Great and Powerful, Spider-Man franchise) directed and served as an executive producer on the pilot.

SLEEPY HOLLOW
From co-creators/executive producers Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci (the Star Trek and Transformers franchises, Fringe), the thrilling new action-adventure Sleepy Hollow is a modern-day retelling of Washington Irving’s classic. Ichabod Crane (Tom Mison) is resurrected and pulled two and a half centuries through time to find that the world is on the brink of destruction and that he is humanity’s last hope, forcing him to team up with a contemporary police officer (Nicole Beharie) to unravel a mystery that dates all the way back to the founding fathers. The series is co-created by Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci, Phillip Iscove and Len Wiseman (Hawaii Five-0, Underworld and Total Recall). The series is executive-produced by Kurtzman, Orci and Wiseman and Heather Kadin. Wiseman directed the pilot.

BROOKLYN NINE-NINE
From Dan Goor and Michael Schur, starring Andy Samberg and Andre Braugher, Brooklyn Nine-Nine is a single-camera ensemble comedy about what happens when a detective who doesn’t take anything seriously gets a new “by-the-book” boss who wants him to grow up and respect the badge. It is produced by Universal Television and 3 Arts Entertainment. The series is created and written by Dan Goor (“Late Night with Conan O’Brien,” “Parks and Recreation”) and Michael Schur (“The Office,” “Parks and Recreation”). The series is executive-produced by Goor, Schur and David Miner (“30 Rock”).

DADS
Dads
is the new live-action, multi-camera comedy from Seth MacFarlane, Alec Sulkin and Wellesley Wild, the creatively outrageous team behind FOX’s Family Guy, stars Seth Green and Giovanni Ribisi as two successful guys – and childhood best friends – whose lives get turned upside down when their pain-in-the-neck patriarchs (Martin Mull & Peter Riegert) move in. It is produced by 20th Century Fox Television and Fuzzy Door Productions. The series is created and written by Emmy Award-nominated writer/producers Alec Sulkin (“Ted,” FAMILY GUY) and Wellesley Wild (“Ted,” FAMILY GUY), and executive-produced by Seth MacFarlane (“Ted,” FAMILY GUY), Sulkin and Wild.

ENLISTED
Enlisted
is an irreverent and heartfelt military-set single-camera family comedy starring Geoff Stults that follows three brothers getting to know each other again on a small Florida Army base and the group of misfits who surround them. It is being produced by 20th Century Fox Television, and written and created by Kevin Biegel (“Cougar Town,” “Scrubs,” “South Park”). The series is executive-produced by Biegel and Mike Royce (“Men of a Certain Age,” “Everybody Loves Raymond”).

US & THEM
Based on the hugely popular and multiple-award-winning BBC 3 series “Gavin and Stacey” and starring Jason Ritter and Alexis Bledel, Us & Them is an ensemble single-camera comedy about a young couple, whose path to happily-ever-after is complicated by the screwed-up circus of people closest to them. It is produced by Sony Pictures Television and BBC Worldwide Productions. It’s adapted and written by David J. Rosen (“I Just Want My Pants Back”), and executive-produced by Rosen, Jane Tranter, Julie Gardner, Corden and Jones. Steve Coogan and Henry Normal serve as executive producers for Baby Cow Productions.

SURVIVING JACK
Surviving Jack
is a new single-camera ensemble comedy based on best-selling author Justin Halpern’s semi-autobiographical book, “I Suck at Girls.” Set in 1990s Southern California, Christopher Meloni stars as a man becoming a dad, as his son is becoming a man, in a time before “coming of age” was something you could Google. It’s produced by Doozer Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television. The series is created by Halpern (“$#*! My Dad Says”) and Patrick Schumacker (“$#*! My Dad Says”) who wrote the pilot.

Happy with the pick ups? I’m content, but extremely happy about Sleepy Hollow, Inhuman and Brooklyn Nine-Nine.

Casting: Brett Dier and Elizabeth Whitson Join ABC’s Ravenswood

ABC, Casting, Pilot
(l-r) Brett Dier, Elizath Whitson

(l-r) Brett Dier, Elizath Whitson

Fans just recently learnt that Tyler Blackburn aka Caleb would be moving from Pretty Little Liars to the upcoming spin-off show titled Ravenswood, and now it seems other casting is a-go.

In other news Elizabeth Whitson and Brett Dier have joined the spin-off as twins Abel and Olivia.

Abel is described as a lone wolf with an old soul but there’s a brooding intensity about him. There’s something dangerous lurking inside him — or he could be wounded and covering. His trust is hard won but once you’re in his inner circle, he’ll never let you down.

Olivia, a former prom queen who has fallen from grace, is learning who her real friends are after most everyone in her inner circle turns their backs on her.

Are you guys excited? Because I definitely am!

Casting: 5 Actors Being Considered For – The Fault In Our Stars Movie

Adaptation, Book to Movie, Casting, Gossip
(l-r) Shailene Woodley, Brenton Thwaites, Ansel Elgort

(l-r) Shailene Woodley, Brenton Thwaites, Ansel Elgort

UPDATE:
Ansel Elgort has been chosen to play male lead Augustus Waters.

After almost a month after the news that Shailene Woodley had been cast in the movie adaptation of the acclaimed novel by John Green ‘The Fault in Our Stars’. We finally have our frontrunners for male lead Augustus Waters.

So first up we have Brenton Thwaites who was also a rumoured front runner for the role of Four in the Divergent movie. His australian and hasn’t been seen a lot of american tv, but he can be seen in the upcoming movie Maleficent alongside Elle Fanning. He’s one of my two favourites for the role of Augustus.

Next we have Ansel Elgort, who is also a relative new comer, he can be seen in the upcoming remake of Carrie alongside Chloe Grace Moretz and is also already starring with Shailene Woodley in Divergent, so he could have a shoe-in as he already knows the female lead (Hazel Lancaster). Realistically I think Ansel is the only one out of the five who could stand aside Shailene and look right for the role.

(l-r) Nat Wolff, Noah Silver, Nick Robinson

(l-r) Nat Wolff, Noah Silver, Nick Robinson

Then we have Nat Wolff who is probably the most known out of the bunch as he’s had his own show alongside his brother on Nickelodeon and he’s going to be starring in a movie alongside Selena Gomez pretty soon.
Personally I can’t see him pulling off the role of Augustus.

Second to last we have Noah Silver who is also pretty unknown, he stars in The Borgias as Benito Sforza and will be seen next with Morgan Freeman in the movie Last Knights. Not a favourite of mine but I haven’t seen much of him to judge on.

Last but not least we have 18 year old Nick Robinson who most of you will know as Jake from Frenemies or Ryder Scanlon on Melissa & Joey. Nick is my other favourite for the role of Augustus but my only worry is he looks fairly young compared to Shailene.

What’s your guys take on who should be cast?

Casting: Nina Dobrev in Comedy ‘Lets Be Cops’

Casting, CW Show, Gossip
Nina Dobrev

Nina Dobrev

Congrats Nina!

After stints in movies like Perks of Being a Wallflower and Roommate it seems Nina has finally been cast in a lead role. She’s signed up to star in the upcoming comedy ‘Let’s Be Cops’.

The movie is about two friends who impersonate cops for fun (Damon Wayans Jr, Jake Johnson) and end up running into trouble when they accidentally tangle with a real-life, honest-to-goodness mobster.

Nina will be playing Damons love interest and its even rumoured that she’ll have a british accent. Looks like she can ask fellow british co-star Joseph Morgan for help on that.
It’ll be fun to see Nina in something funny as she’s always in more serious roles especially when it comes to her show The Vampire Diaries.

What do you think? Is Nina capable of comedy?

Casting: Tyler Blackburn Joins PLL Spinoff – Ravenswood

ABC, Casting, Gossip, Pilot

Guys, I don’t know if I should be happy that Tyler Blackburn is finally getting the recognition he deserves or sad that this means there’s no happy ending for Hanna and Caleb.

ABC have cast their first person for the Pretty Little Liars spin-off Ravenswood, and its none other than PLL’s fave badboy, Caleb.

The new series takes place in Ravenswood, a town near Liars‘ hometown of Rosewood PA, and revolves around five strangers who are connected by the curse that has plagued Ravenswood for generations.
Caleb (Blackburn) will travel to Ravenswood in the Halloween special in October, which will be used to introduce Ravenswood and its inhabitants and launch the new series.

Tyler will be in all the following episodes of the next season but after that he’ll head to Ravenswood which means no Haleb, unless he does a few back and forth episodes to keep their relationship alive.

Let’s hope the writers figure something out!

Casting: Lily James as Cinderella

Adaptation, Book to Movie, Casting
Lily James

Lily James

After having live adaptations of Snow White, Beauty and The Beast, Alice in Wonderland and Sleeping Beauty grace our screens in the recent years its no doubt that Disney would have the much loved Cinderella next on its list.

Now not much is known about the coming movie other than Cate Blanchett being cast as the evil stepmother.

In recent news Disney have released that they’ve found their Cinderella in Downton Abbey star Lily James.

There’s no release date or production start date but with two of the main characters already cast I’m sure we’ll be learning much more about the movie pretty soon.

What’s your take on Lily James as Cinderella?

Vampire Academy Casting: Olga Kurylenko as Ellen Kirovo

Adaptation, Book to Movie, Casting, Gossip

With production set for May its no shock that casting has already begun, especially considering the main three characters, Rose, Lissa and Dimitri were already cast a while back.
Zoey Deutch, Lucy Fry and Danila Kozlovski were cast respectively in those roles.

Now we’ve learnt that Olga Kurylenko, who you may recognise from the recent hit movie Oblivion, has been cast as Ellen Kirovo, aka the Headmistress of Vampire Academy.

Most fans pictured Kirovo as someone a lot older than Olga, being as she’s only in her thirties, but it was never actually said how old she is, plus she is Moroi and they are described as model looking, and Olga was a model, so it does make sense to cast someone like her.
I personally like the casting choice, and I think she’ll fit in perfectly with the movie.

I’m super excited for the movie, and can’t wait to see who they cast as Aidan!

Let me know your thoughts below?

YA Book ‘Graceling – Kristin Cashore’ Being Adapted into a Movie?

Adaptation, Book to Movie, Gossip
Graceling Book Cover

Graceling Book Cover

It’s finally happening guys. My wish has been granted.

So a couple years ago I came across a book called Graceling, I read it and fell in love. To my surprise there were two more books coming out and I awaited eagerly for their release.
Fire and Bitterblue were great follow ups and I enjoyed them immensely.

Now to my joy after all these years Graceling has finally been optioned as a movie by Reliance Entertainment with screenwriter Piers Ashworth attached to pen the script.

The story centers around teen Katsa, one of a select few Graced with a special skill. But unlike those with superior abilities, Katsa is a born killer, and it’s a talent put to nefarious use by her uncle, who just so happens to be king. But Katsa’s life is forever changed when she meets a fellow Graceling named Po.

Producer Deepak Nayar described the project as a sort of “Hunger Games” meets “Game of Thrones,” and I can definitely say his correct in comparing it to both franchises.

No word yet on when the project could begin production but of course I’ll be doing a dream casting soon on who I’d like to see as Katsa and Po.

You guys excited?

CW: Orders The Originals – Renews Hart of Dixie & Beaty and The Beast

CW Show, Pilot
The Originals, Beauty and The Beast, Hart of Dixie

The Originals, Beauty and The Beast, Hart of Dixie

The CW have renewed both Hart of Dixie and Beauty and The Beast!

Now this has come to no surprise at all as BaTB is the only show which comes from CBS TV studios so they had to keep it in order to have at least one show coming from that network. Hopefully the next season can improve a little as it seems to be lagging a little at the moment.
Hart of Dixie was also a no brainer as its not very expensive production wise and it has a steady amount of viewers.

The network have also picked up The Originals, which aired as an episode of The Vampire Diaries as a backdoor pilot. This is amazing news as I really enjoyed the pilot and I’m excited to see where it goes from here.

No word on The Carrie Diaries or Nikita but I reckon Nikita will get a shortened final season of 6-13 episodes and that TCD have said its goodbyes already.

Here’s what Mark Pedowitz had to say about the renewals and pickup.

“As soon as we saw last night’s episode of The Vampire Diaries, we knew we wanted more of The Originals — Julie Plec and Kevin Williamson have done a fantastic job with The Vampire Diaries, which is as fast-paced and well-written as ever, and Julie has created an equally compelling world for The Originals,” said Pedowitz.
“We’re also very excited to bring back Beauty And The Beast and  Hart Of Dixie for next season — both series continue to be creatively strong and compelling, and their fans are incredibly passionate.”

So for the 2013-2014 CW schedule we have The Vampire Diaries, Supernatural, Arrow, Hart of Dixie, Beauty and The Beast and The Originals so far.

What else would you like to see picked up for next year?

Pilot: The Originals Review – TVD 4×20

CW Show, Pilot, TV Review
(l-r) Klaus, Rebekah, Elijah, Marcel

(l-r) Klaus, Rebekah, Elijah, Marcel

WELL HELLO.

So after the long awaited torture, us Klaus fans finally got to see the pilot for The Originals, which was also an episode of The Vampire Diaries.
Wow.
Let’s just take a minute to breathe here guys, because I warn you, I will ramble.

Spoilers ALERT.

First of all let’s start with the newly introduced characters.
I surprisingly like Marcel, in a weird way he reminds me of Klaus in the beginning of TVD, remember when he was bad and everyone hated him? Haha. He’s definitely going to be an interesting character to explore in the future.
Now, Camille, hmm. I’m an avid fan of Caroline, she’s one of the only reasons I tune in to watch TVD every week, BUT I have to say, I liked Camille. They’ve done her well in terms of making a distinct difference between her and Caroline.
Sophie? She seems pretty cool, and wow for once a witch I actually like. With Elijah and Katherine done, I’d be interested in him with Sophie? Ah, maybe its a little too early on to say.

Ok so yes I’m pretty happy with the new characters, now onto the actual show.
Hayley, wow you little minx.
So major spoilers ahead…

She’s pregnant, with Klaus’ child! Yes you heard right, KLAUS.
I wasn’t really a fan of Hayley, which was sad because I loved her on The Secret Circle, but I’ll be damned, I actually liked her and I’m glad they’ve brought her on for The Originals, she’s starting to become a little interesting dare I say? Also, she looked really hot in this episode.
I can’t wait to see how the writers go about this pregnancy.

Guys can we just take a minute to appreciate Elijah, damn the way he entered in this episode, in the scene with Sophie? Best entrance yet, hands down.
We didn’t get a lot of Rebekah, but from what we did see she doesn’t seem to be warming up to the idea of moving to New Orleans, and I’m glad the writers have kept the fact that she’s not happy with Klaus intact.

Onto the best person to ever grace my screen. Klaus, oh man I fell even more in love with him in this episode, and let’s face it The Originals is a definite pick up, so I cannot wait to explore the depths of his character. Joseph Morgan embodies Klaus so well, honestly wow.
His one liners throughout the show were great and they showed that the Klaus we all know and love is still inside there, even though he’s become quite tame recently due to a little blonde I love(Caroline).
However the message Klaus left for Caroline was definitely the icing on top of the cake, I think it was a perfect nod to us Klaroline fans, but with that said, I will give Klamille a chance because Camille seems cool enough. But with that said, I’d love it if Caroline spent the next season doing cross-overs and then officially moving over to The Originals for their season 2, wow perfect or what?

With that said, I did tear up throughout the episode, the scene in which Camille was describing the painter, and it just so happened to describe Klaus to a tee, wow. It was a powerful scene seeing Klaus look so god damn vulnerable like that.

Honestly there’s so much more I could say about this episode, but I’ll leave that to you guys.
Let me know what you thought of the backdoor pilot down below!

EXCLUSIVE Casting: Alex Pettyfer Cast as Christian Grey in 50 Shades of Grey!

Adaptation, Book to Movie, Casting, Gossip

GUYS!

I think it’s finally here.
So, in recent news there’s been this whole craze about how Alex Pettyfer has shot a sex scene for director Gus Van Sant, who really wants to direct the movie adaptation. By doing this he thinks he can showcase that he’s the right man for the job.

Anyway, I’ve just come across an article (I’ll leave the link down below) which states that Alex has in fact been cast as Christian Grey.

http://hollywoodlife.com/2013/04/24/alex-pettyfer-christian-grey-fifty-shades-of-grey-movie/

(If the article doesn’t work, just type in hollywoodlife.com and it’ll be on the first couple of pages.)

Now, this website IS a gossip website, but it doesn’t really have far fetched stories like say the Huffington Post has, plus the article is pretty sure of itself.

I, for one wouldn’t mind if Alex takes the lead role of Christian Grey but he does look rather young? Which means to emphasise the age gap between him and Ana, they’d have to cast a rather young looking actress.

Honestly, in terms of looks and age, I think Taissa Farmiga would be a perfect Ana, but she is only 19, so maybe they’d be problems about her doing sex scenes, as such.

Oh well, what do you guys think?
Let me know!

UPDATED
Alex Pettyfer hasn’t been cast as Christian Grey sadly, so I guess that means there’s still time for you all to fantasize about who you picture as Christian.
It has since been revealed that Charlie Hunnam has been cast as Christian, and Dakota Johnson as Anastasia Steele.

UPDATED!!
Charlie Hunnam has dropped out of Fifty Shades due to scheduling conflicts and Jamie Dornan has now been chosen to replace Hunnam in the titular role. Dakota is still expected to play the role of Anastasia Steele.

First Look: Divergent, Tris in Knife Throwing Scene

Adaptation, Book to Movie

IT’S HERE GUYS!

So courtesy of Entertainment Weekly, we have our first look of Tris in the famous Knife Throwing scene. Now the major thing that everyone’s talking about is the hair colour of Shailene Woodley.

It’s not exactly blonde, but its lighter than her original hair colour, I personally don’t really mind that Shailene is not blonde because its not a major part of the story.

I mean look at The Vampire Diaries, Elenas blonde hair was a big part of the story, and it was described a gazillion times in the book, but Nina Dobrev pulls the character off with dark brown hair, right?

So please have faith guys!
Anyway, let me know what you think? Excited?!
I am.

Dylan O’Brien Lands Lead in Adaptation of: The Maze Runner

Adaptation, Book to Movie, Casting

Its official!
We have finally found our lead for the adaptation of The Maze Runner in Teen Wolf star Dylan O’Brien.

He will be playing the character Thomas, who is apart of a group of teens who wake up in a maze with no memory of how they got there, he then goes on to search for answers and a way out.
Wes Ball is directing the sci-fi pic adaption of James Dashners novel, with a script by Noah Oppenheim. Will Poulter, Kaya Scodelario, Aml Ameen, and Thomas Brodie-Sangster have also been cast for the movie which films in May in Baton Rouge set for a February 14, 2014 release date.

Dylan O’Brien is a rising star who can be seen on MTVs Teen Wolf which has its season 3 premiere in June, and has recently booked an episode in New Girl as the guy Jess lost her virginity to, and can be seen in upcoming movie Internship, which also stars Vince Vaughn.

I’m personally ecstatic about this news as I’ve been a fan of Dylans for ages, so I’m glad he’s finally gaining the recognition he deserves.

What do you think?

CW Shows: Renewed or Cancelled? (2013-2014)

CW Show, Gossip

So in about four weeks or so all the CW shows will have wrapped up their seasons. So far Gossip Girl and The Carrie Diaries have finished for the year, while Emily Owens and Cult have been cancelled so are not airing now.

Let’s take a look at what shows have been cancelled, renewed and which I think are going to stick around.

UPDATED
Renewed for 2013-14:
The Vampire Diaries
Arrow
Supernatural
Hart of Dixie
Beauty and The Beast
Nikita
Carrie Diaries

Picked Up
The Originals
The Tomorrow People
Reign
Oxygen
The 100

Cancelled:
Emily Owens
90210 – I’m very upset about this.
Cult
Gossip Girl – Wahh, I miss this way too much.

Now, that means there’s still The Carrie Diaries, Nikita, Hart of Dixie and Beauty and The Beast left undecided.

Word is Nikita will be getting renewed but with a shorter season of 6-13 episodes, this will basically conclude everything so far.
I’m a big fan of Nikita and so if they decide to do this I’ll be happy because then I feel like it won’t get dragged out and will have a good deserved ending.

Hart of Dixie could be renewed but in terms of what will they pair it with next season, I’m baffled. I think there’s about an 80% chance this show will be renewed as its got steady viewers and isn’t really that expensive to shoot.
HOD has been renewed for a third season.

Beauty and The Beast doesn’t have the best ratings so I’m not sure if this will get renewed or not, I think it all depends on the ratings ahead. If it did get renewed it would be the perfect fit with pilot Oxygen (girl falls for alien boy).
BATB has been renewed for a second season.

The Carrie Diaries has finished already so the ratings are already in for that yet no-one seems to have said whether it will be cancelled or renewed. I personally think they’ll bring it back again for a short order season depending on whether they decide to pick up other pilots.

Ok so let’s move onto the new pilots, we have The Originals, The Selection, The Tomorrow People, The Hundred, Reign, Oxygen, Blink, Company Town.

Now with the renewed being The Vampire Diaries, Supernatural and Arrow they will probably have all three of these on the Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday as lead ins to pilots.
With TVD its inevitable that The Originals will be paired with it, its almost guaranteed that it will be picked up.
The Originals has been picked up.
Then with Arrow I feel like they’ll pair it with The Hundred with it being male-orientated (kinda) so by putting it with Arrow it may get the viewers it needs.
Plus its an adaptation like Arrow was. But I do feel like The Hundred will probably get a short season till just January to make things less confusing and at a fast pace.
For Supernatural I’m pretty certain they’ll put it with The Tomorrow People as they both have ‘supernatural’ elements to them and are about pairs/groups working together.

So that would mean the CW pick up The Originals, The Hundred, The Tomorrow People. With four shows already cancelled I’d say the CW have about five slots when it comes to pilots.

Let’s look at the rest of the schedule and pilots.
So we have Monday and Friday left. Friday will most likely have Nikita and then a new pilot, but with Nikita likely to be a shorter season we have space for two pilots, one starting in Sep/Oct and then another in Jan. With the first half of the year I think the CW will pair Nikita with The Selection as they both have a dystopian feel to it, when you think about it Division is pretty much a dystopian setting? Then once Nikita finishes, I think they’ll put it another pilot which could be Oxygen or Reign. The Selection already has a big following because of it being an adaptation so it could definitely help another pilot.

Now for the Monday we’ll probably have contemporary shows, so I reckon they’ll put Hart of Dixie and pair it with Blink or Company Town. My moneys on Company Town though as Sera Gamble is a showrunner and she was part of Supernatural which has become a cult hit.

No mention of Beauty & the Beast or The Carrie Diaries right? Well at this point I’m not exactly sure they’ll be picked up for another season.

Let’s run through my wishful schedule:

Sep/Oct:

Monday: Hart of Dixie, Blink/Company Town
Tuesday: Arrow, The Hundred
Wednesday: Supernatural, The Tomorrow People
Thursday: Vampire Diaries, The Originals
Friday: Nikita, The Selection

Jan:

Tuesday: Arrow, Oxygen
Friday: The Selection, Reign

What are your thoughts on all of this? Are there any shows you would love to see picked up?
For me personally I want to see The Originals, The Selection, Oxygen, The Hundred and The Tomorrow People picked up!

Divergent: Casts Ashley Judd

Adaptation, Book to Movie, Casting, Gossip
Ashley Judd

Ashley Judd

With production for the Divergent movie already started it wasn’t long before the much awaited role for Tris’ Mom was announced.
After the long wait it seems that Ashley Judd has snapped up the role and will be joining the ensemble cast.

She’s a good pick and definitely a big time actress so Divergent are doing extremely well so far with who they are casting.

My only worry now is are they brining in Uriah? Or have they cut him completely for this movie and are maybe planning him for the next one?

I guess we won’t be finding out just yet.

Your thoughts on Ashley Judd being cast?

The Vampire Diaries: ‘American Gothic’ – Review/Recap

CW Show, TV Review
Caroline and Klaus

Caroline and Klaus

As a Klaroline shipper I was really looking forward to this episode as spoilers had stated there’d be a lot of Klaroline scenes and so on for all the shippers out there. Oh boy, did it not disappoint!

Beware: SPOILERS for 4×18.

So, Rebekah and Elena go on the search for Katherine who they happen to find in a town they visit. Damon and Stefan are in pursuit of Elena and Rebekah and they’re not far behind in catching up with them. Elena and Rebekah chat with Katherine and try to get the cure off her, but she refuses to budge. Elena ends up pretending to be Katherine to go and meet up with one of her friends who she assumes will know where the cure is. The friend ends up being ELIJAH! (Praise Jesus, its about time we had some Elijah)
Turns out Elijah and Katherine are now ‘together’ and plan on giving the cure to Klaus in return that he doesn’t kill Katherine.
Once the whole gang are together (Stefan, Rebekah, Damon and Katherine) they decide to split up so that Stefan can go and ‘rescue’ Elena off Elijah (After Elijah and Stefan have a phone conversation where Elijah pretends he’s going to harm Elena, when in reality him and Elena are fine and catching up, so to speak) and Damon & Rebekah can get Katherine to show them where the cure is.
Fast forward a bit, Katherine tricks Rebekah and Damon into thinking they have the cure, Rebekah takes it while Damon watches. Katherine runs off to Elijah, snaps Elenas neck, gets into an ‘argument’ with Elijah over her being the same person she always was (conniving) and collects the real cure who she then decides to give to Elijah because he says he finds it hard to trust her (cue a really sweet scene).
After Rebekah realises she didn’t really take the cure, she sees that Elijah has it and asks him for it. He refuses to give it to her and they both head back to Mystic Falls to see Klaus.
Elena meets with Damon and Stefan and tells them she likes being a vampire and that they need to stop trying to change her or she’ll rack up a pile of dead bodies.
NOW, to the fun bits!
Back in Mystic Falls we have a pained Klaus who has a piece of the white oak stake in his back. He’s at his manor trying to get it out when Caroline walks in. So they have a little moment (see above picture) but it turns out, she’s just a hallucination. Its actually Silas, pretending to be her. So Klaus carries on in pain and in comes the real Caroline who he’s wary of at first, but then realises its really her and is blatantly happy.
She agrees to get the white oak stake out, and they have a really nice ‘bonding’ session. Obviously Caroline isn’t her nicest to him, but baby steps people, baby steps.
They end up deciding to be friends after Klaus in his weird ways states he isn’t actually going after Tyler like they all think he is, even though Tyler did try to kill him.

So readers, that’s about it for that episode.
It definitely answered a few questions of mine, like who is Katherine working with? Where is she? Does Elijah know Elena killed Kol? (No) and Where are Klaroline headed?

I loved the episode, mainly because I love Katherine and I loved the Klaroline scenes. Another thing I enjoyed was Stefan saying that he’ll help get the cure for Elena and then he’ll leave because he doesn’t want to stay around anymore. I do prefer Delena but I’m a fan of Stefan so I’m glad he finally grew a back bone and manned up enough to say he’d leave Elena. Now I only wish Damon would do the same. Sigh.

How did you all find this episode? I’d love to know your opinions, comment down below.

Divergent Casts 3 Males!

Adaptation, Book to Movie, Casting, Gossip
(l-r) Christian Madsen, Ben Lloyd-Hughes, Ben Lamb

(l-r) Christian Madsen, Ben Lloyd-Hughes, Ben Lamb

With less than a year to go till Divergent hits our theatres (March 21st 2014) the casting seems to be filling out nicely.
In recent news, three of the male characters have been cast; Al, Will and Edward.

Al – Christian Madsen:
Son of big time movie star Michael Madsen, Christian will be playing Al, a close friend to Tris and another Dauntless initiate.
Will – Ben Lloyd Hughes:
I like the casting choice for Will, I think he’ll do great, a tad older looking but no major problems with this choice.
Edward – Ben Lamb:
Not really fussed about this because I didn’t picture anyone for Edward when reading the book. The only thing that worries me is Ben looks slightly older than a 16 year old, but oh well.

So far I really like the casting decisions made, the only thing that worries me recently is the ages of the three guys above. They all look a little too old to be playing 16 year olds but I’m going to trust that the production team know what they’re doing. They are the professionals at the end of the day.

ABC – Once:Wonderland Pilot: Spin-Off

ABC, Casting, Pilot
(l-r) Sophie Lowe, Michael Socha, Peter Gadiot

(l-r) Sophie Lowe, Michael Socha, Peter Gadiot

ABC’s spin-off for their current hit show Once Upon A Time has officially been given lift off.

Casting news has just broke and it seems we finally have our three main leads.

Sophie Lowe has been cast as Alice, a girl who has a generous heart but carries the scars of a hard life.
Michael Socha, (who I happen to be a big fan of) has been cast as the Knave of Hearts, a sardonic adventurer, a man of action, a loner and a heart-breaker.
And last but not least, Peter Gadiot will play Cyrus, Alice’s love interest with a background shrouded in mystery.

I can only assume that Michaels character will also play a love interest for Alice as you know a teen tv show isn’t complete till there’s a triangle. I’m ecstatic about Sophie Lowe as Alice, I don’t think they could have cast her better, she just screams Alice to me.

Filming is set to start in Vancouver this spring when OUAT has finished filming for season 2.

ABC: Pretty Little Liars Spinoff – Ravenswood

ABC, Gossip, Pilot

Pretty Little Liars Fans have reasons to jump for joy!

The show has been renewed for a fifth season, which will premiere (presumably) in the summer of 2014. Season 4 premieres June 11th on ABC Family.

And if that wasn’t exciting enough, ABC have announced a spin-off in the works called Ravenswood.

The official press release below:

From “Pretty Little Liars” executive producers I. Marlene King, Oliver Goldstick, Joseph Dougherty and Leslie Morgenstein, “Ravenswood” will center on a town, not far from Rosewood, PA (the home base of “Pretty Little Liars”), which has suffered under a deadly curse for generations. Five strangers suddenly find themselves connected by this fatal curse and need to dig into the town’s mysterious and terrible history before it’s too late for each of them. The series will premiere on ABC Family following the annual “Pretty Little Liars” special Halloween episode in October 2013.

A spokeswoman for the network says; “It’s safe to assume the Halloween episode will set things up and a few teases may come in the summer season.”

Now as soon as the news was announced, fans hit I. Marlene Kings twitter with questions upon questions. She replied with:
“@imarleneking: We can’t tell you who’s in it yet. Like Rosewood, Ravenswood has dark secrets. #Ravenswood”

So its safe to say ABC are keeping quiet on their new project so we won’t be hearing much yet. One thing that definitely intrigues me is the casting. The press release states five lead characters who connect through a fatal curse, so that means it could be a mixture of boys and girls. I definitely think having a mix would be better, as that way it’ll be a change from having four (sometimes five) lead girls on PLL.

Also with it being a curse, there’s definitely going to be a supernatural element to it, which I personally think is going to be great, if its done well.

Another thing to take into account is who you’d like to see cast as those lead characters? With it being a spin-off do you think we could be seeing someone from Rosewood head off to Ravenswood, or will it be all new characters?
I’m crossing my fingers that Steven R. McQueen might magically land a lead in this pilot, now that he’s free.

What do you think? Excited?

FSOG Movie: Casting Christian Grey?

Adaptation, Book to Movie, Casting, Gossip
(l-r) Alexander Skarsgard, Matt Bomer, Henry Cavill, Ian Somerhalder

(l-r) Alexander Skarsgard, Matt Bomer, Henry Cavill, Ian Somerhalder

(l-r) Ryan Gosling, Robert Pattinson, Stephen Amell, Chris Hemsworth

(l-r) Ryan Gosling, Robert Pattinson, Stephen Amell, Chris Hemsworth

Due to my post about Stephen Amell recently discussing the Fifty Shades of Grey movie, its prompted me to do a few posts regarding the cast.
I’ve decided to do a post on the casting of Christian Grey, Anastasia Steele, Kate Kavanaugh, Elliot Grey and Ms Robinson. I might do a few more depending on the feedback I get from the ones I do.
So in every post I’ll start off with the fan favourites, discuss my take on them and then I’ll tell you who my personal favourite is.

We’ll start off with the leading man Christian Grey:

Fan Fave 1) – Alexander Skarsgard:
He’s in True Blood and I absolutely love him as Eric, I think the casting directors did well by casting him for that, but Alex as Christian Grey? I don’t really see it. I do love him and think he’s great at acting but Christian is 28 in the books and Alex is 36 pushing on 37, so by the time the movies ready to start filming he maybe too old. 3 books, maybe 4 movies? He’d be pushing 40 once they’re all done. Plus I see Alex as more of a Jesse Ward (This Man Trilogy)

Fan Fave 2) – Matt Bomer:
Now, Matt has been a favourite since the beginning and although I do see why loads of ladies swoon over him, he’s never really done it for me. He doesn’t seem like he could pull off the broody, sexy look. He’s just a little too pretty. Although I do admit I’ve never actually seen him acting, so maybe I’d need to watch him in action to see what everyone else sees? Also Matt doesn’t seem that tall, on his IMDB page it says he’s 5′ 11 1/2 bordering on 6′ now that’s fairly tall but he doesn’t look it to me.

Fan Fave 3) – Henry Cavill:
A couple years back I remember trying out Tudors and not liking it, I was quite upset because I really liked Henrys character but not much else. I googled like mad to see what else he was in and it wasn’t a lot. Fast forward a few years and he’s the new craze and a new fave to be Christian Grey. You can imagine my excitement when it was released that he’d be taking over the new Superman. Anyway I didn’t personally see Henry when I was reading the books but I wouldn’t mind seeing him as Christian because he could definitely pull it off and let’s face it, he is HOT.

Fan Fave 4) – Ian Somerhalder:
I’m a fan of The Vampire Diaries, its probably my favourite show as of now, but for me Ian just isn’t Christian Grey. He will always be Damon to me, and I’m totally a Delena fan, and I love everything about him, but I think part of the fact that I love Ian is because he plays Damon so well. Again, he’s pretty short at 5’11 and he’s good looking but not in a Christian Grey sort of way. Remember Christian is supposed to be a man that every girl swoons over.

Fan Fave 5) – Ryan Gosling:
Ever since The Notebook came out Ryan has made womens hearts melt just by looking at him. He’s definitely a hottie and has an aura about him that could pull off Christian BUT having said that. I don’t want Ryan as Mr Grey, I just don’t see it, I’m not saying he couldn’t do it, I reckon if he was cast he could put the character to justice, I just don’t see it as of now. Also I’d prefer it i’d Christian Grey was played by someone a little less known.

Fan Fave 6) – Robert Pattinson:
Ok, I know what you’re all thinking. Robert is my Edward, he can’t play Christian. Now of course I agree with you, but I couldn’t compile a list without putting him in there, because remember, Robert is who E.L James pictured as Christian Grey when writing this Twilight fan-fic. If by some miracle Robert did play Christian, my heart would be content, in my books he could pull it off for sure.

Fan Fave 7) – Stephen Amell:
He wasn’t really a contender since recently but ever since his names been thrown into the ring I start to see him as Christian more and more. He’s the guy that I kinda think, well, if he was given the role I’d be happy, I’d be content, if he wasn’t given the role I’d be ok about it too, he’s my safe choice, kind of. Although to me he’s Oliver Queen, because of the CW show Arrow. He definitely has the body for it, and he’s had experience playing a billionaire because of Arrow.

Fan Fave 8) – Chris Hemsworth:
Ever since Thor came out, I’ve been a big fan of Chris’ and obviously it has nothing to do with his hair, or his face, or his bulging muscles. His names been thrown around a few times and most people say they wouldn’t mind him playing Christian. I agree. He’s definitely sexy, and could do the whole brooding thing, but the only thing is that to me Chris is who I pictured as James Cavendish (In Flight Trilogy) and so I don’t want him as Christian as it’d ruin the illusion I have in my mind, but if he was, I wouldn’t mind, I’d be kinda happy!

OK, so now that I’ve discussed my thoughts on the fan favourites so far, I’d like to present to you my Christian Grey.
Nick Zano:
Now a lot of you will probably read this and say one of three things:
‘who the fuck is he?’
‘no way could he be Christian Grey’
‘oh, I definitely agree’
I hope most of you are saying the last one but I’m going to be realistic here and guess that you probably aren’t. Let’s talk about what he’s been seen in, he’s guest starred in 90210, Happy Endings, 2 Broke Girls and plenty more. I first saw him in 90210 and fell in love. If you’ve seen him in there as PJ, you’ll understand why I see him as Christian Grey right? He played a billionaire who was engaged to Naomi Clarke.
Now when I read a book I always have to picture someone in my mind, most of the time I choose who I wanna see, but with Fifty Shades, Nick was chosen before my brain even had a say, he was all I thought of when I read those books. So much so, that I didn’t even picture Anastasia too much.

So what do you guys think?

Well? Let me know down below and be sure to check out my posts on my choice for Anastasia Steele, it’ll be up soon.

FSOG Movie: Stephen Amell as Christian Grey?

Adaptation, Book to Movie, Casting, CW Show, Gossip
Stephen Amell

Stephen Amell

We haven’t heard much news regarding casting when it comes to the highly anticipated Fifty Shades movie, so when news broke that Stephen Amell star of CW Arrow had stated that he had a meeting to do with Fifty Shades, the media was in a frenzy.
Here’s exactly what he said on his official facebook page:

“I get questions about Christian Grey all the time,” “That project is a long way off. I know this, because I had a meeting about it. Long way off. I mean, not that long, but not close. I wouldn’t call it long, but I wouldn’t call it close.”

He added:

“You know what you have to do to get typecast? You have to work. A bunch. And working as an actor is the most important thing. I think one of the highest honors you can have as an actor is to be typecast because that means you’ve done a significant amount of work in one specific realm.”

In regards to having a meeting does that mean other fan favourites have had meeting to do with the movie? Or was the meeting simply between him and his agent/manager? I guess we don’t know for sure.
His statement definitely leaves us with more questions, but to me it seems Stephen seems he’s not ready for such a big commitment, when he says ‘you have to work’ maybe he thinks he’s not worthy of it yet?
To me he is for sure.

Stephen isn’t who I pictured as Mr Grey but I love him in Arrow, and wouldn’t mind him playing Mr Grey.

What about you guys? Let me know.
Oh and just incase you wanted to see what he looked like shirtless, haha.

NBC Pilot: Delirium YA Adaptation

Adaptation, Casting, FOX, Pilot
(l-r) Emma Roberts, Daren Kagasoff, Gregg Sulkin, Jeanine Mason

(l-r) Emma Roberts, Daren Kagasoff, Gregg Sulkin, Jeanine Mason

I brought the news earlier in the year that Emma Roberts had been cast in the FOX Pilot: Delirium. She will be playing female lead Lena Holoway.
Its been known for quite a while who will play Alex, Julian and Hana but I thought I’d let all my readers know anyway.
So for Alex we have Daren Kagasoff, he’s known for playing Ricky on Secret Life of the American Teenager, opposite Shailene Woodley who will be headlining her own YA adaptation early next year as Tris in Divergent.
For Julian we have Gregg Sulkin who has quite a few acting notches under his belt. He’s most commonly known for playing Selena Gomez’s love interest Mason on Wizards of Waverly Place and Wes on Pretty Little Liars.
Lastly we have Jeanine Mason for Hana who was on So You Think You Can Dance, her acting career has her playing a lead role in Bunheads, an ABC tv show.

So there you have it.
What do you think about the casting choices?

Also the official synopsis for the book Delirium for those who haven’t heard of it can be read down below:
Before scientists found the cure, people thought love was a good thing.
They didn’t understand that once love — the deliria — blooms in your blood, there is no escaping its hold. Things are different now. Scientists are able to eradicate love, and the government demands that all citizens receive the cure upon turning eighteen. Lena Holoway has always looked forward to the day when she’ll be cured. A life without love is a life without pain: safe, measured, predictable, and happy.

But with ninety-five days left until her treatment, Lena does the unthinkable: She falls in love.

Casting: Divergent Fills Out Characters!

Adaptation, Book to Movie, Casting
(l-r) Kate Winslet, Ray Stevenson, Aaron Eckhart, Miles Teller

(l-r) Kate Winslet, Ray Stevenson, Aaron Eckhart, Miles Teller

Divergent seems to be rounding out its cast as we speak, and I cannot help but smile right now.
With other YA adaptations I’m never really satisfied with who they cast, Beautiful Creatures + The Hunger Games didn’t do it right if you ask me (excluding Gale and Ethan). BUT don’t worry yourselves guys, Divergent are definitely doing it right.

Just this week we’ve had major roles being cast like Christina, Tori, Caleb, Eric and we’ve finally been told who’s playing Four.
So far we have:
Shailene Woodley as Tris/Beatrice Prior
Theo James as Four
Maggie Q as Tori
Zoe Kravitz as Christina
Ansel Elgort as Caleb Prior
Jai Courtney as Eric

We also know that Kate Winslet has an unknown role so far, most say she’ll play either Jeanine or Tris’ Mother.

Now I can exclusively reveal that Ray Stevenson, Aaron Eckhart, and Miles Teller are going through the negotiations to join Divergent. We don’t know who they’ll be playing but my personal guess is that, Miles will be playing Will. Aaron will be playing Beatrice’s father, and Ray will be playing Marcus.

UPDATE:
According to most sources, Miles will be playing Peter, Aaron will be playing Marcus, and Ray will be playing Andrew Prior.

That’s just my own prediction, and I could be far off so I’d like you to let me know who you think they’ll be playing?

Are you all excited as I am?!

EXCLUSIVE: Divergent Casts Four!

Adaptation, Book to Movie, Casting
Theo James

Theo James

FINALLY.
Its taking all my energy to write this right now because I am over the moon and I want to scream with joy!
Four has finally been cast.

Theo James, who can be seen in Golden Boy will be playing the lead role opposite Shailene Woodley.
After months of months of searching Lionsgate have finally released a statement as to why Theo won the much sought out role of Four.

“Theo is not only an incredibly talented actor, he is also who we envisioned as Four when reading Veronica’s novel which has taken the world by storm,” says Rob Friedman and Patrick Wachsberger, co-chairmen of Lionsgate Motion Picture Group in a joint statement. “As we continue to develop the film, the studio remains committed to providing fans with a movie adaptation that stays as true to the book as possible and we are confident that we have done so with our selection of Shailene and Theo in the leading roles.”

Theo also released an official statement on his thoughts of being cast in this teen franchise.
“As a fan of Divergent, I am thrilled to have been chosen for the role of Four and to be a part of such a phenomenal story,”
“As an actor, I am excited to explore and play this incredibly complex and mysterious character. Director Neil Berger is a remarkably visionary filmmaker. Along with the incredibly talented Shailene Woodley, we are looking forward to the fantastic adventure of bringing this beloved book to life on the big screen for all the fan.”

I’m a fan of Golden Boy and have been in love with Theo since he’s appeared on my screen, so you can imagine my happiness right now?!
He may be abit on the older side but he still looks fairly young. (He’s 28 years old)
So let me know your thoughts down below!

Divergent Movie: Casting Four?

Adaptation, Book to Movie, Casting, Gossip
(l-r) Steven R McQueen, Colton Haynes, Alex Pettyfer, Drew Roy

(l-r) Steven R McQueen, Colton Haynes, Alex Pettyfer, Drew Roy

With the recent news regarding casting for the upcoming adaptation Divergent, all of us fans are eagerly anticipating the day they release who they’ve chosen to play Four.

Rumours circulating around the internet say that they’ve cast Four already but aren’t ready to say who it is just yet, but others say the role is still up for grabs.

The actors who have been named over and over again are the likes of Colton Haynes, Alex Pettyfer, Drew Roy and Steven R McQueen. These guys are definitely fan favourites so let’s go into abit more depth and see if they’re even available right now?

Steven R McQueen:
The fact that he’s character (Jeremy) has just been killed off in The Vampire Diaries is a sad thing to come to terms with, but in other news it means he’s free to shoot Divergent? As his role in TVD meant he had to buff up in order to pull off being a Hunter, I couldn’t help but see what every other Divergent fan was seeing as the role of Four became more evident in him.

Colton Haynes:
He’s just been upped to the main cast for Arrow with Season 2, and he hasn’t finished filming Season 1 yet, so the question is, if he’s cast in Divergent would the shooting times clash with Arrow? People could argue that he’s already apart of a franchise as he’s apart of Arrow which was adapted from a comic book series and so he might not want to be apart of another teen franchise? I could definitely see him as Four but I worry that he’s maybe abit too pretty to pull it off.

Alex Pettyfer:
I was going to try and not be so biased in this post but I can’t help it when Alex is involved. I am a huge fan of him, and like most girls whenever I read a YA book I can’t help but picture him as the leading man. The same happened when I read Divergent, and I personally think him and Shailene would look fantastic together, and he can definitely pull off that whole broody, sexy, quiet thing that Four has for the most part. Alex is my Four.

Drew Roy:
Another fan favourite is Falling Skies star Drew Roy, I see where fans come from when they say he is their perfect Four, he definitely has the look of Four with his dark looks but what worries me is whether he’d be able to pull of playing Four, he doesn’t look very tall, and from what i’ve seen of his acting he seems too young to play the role, even though he’s 26? Maybe even older. With that said I wouldn’t mind if he did end up playing Four.

Ok so now that I’ve gotten the fan favourites out the way and my personal fave (Alex Pettyfer) let’s move on to other young actors that haven’t really been thrown into the ring yet, but could definitely be considered for the part.
First up, we have…

Ethan Peck:
He was set to play Prince Maxon in the CW adaptation of The Selection last year but after that fell through he doesn’t seem to have any other major projects coming up, and so playing Four could be his break out role? He has the dark hair that Four should have, and from seeing him in 10 Things I Hate About You and In Time, I think he has the chops to mold himself into Four.

Thomas McDonell:
Thomas is a fairly newcomer when it comes to Hollywood, and he’s just recently been cast in The 100, a CW pilot, but we don’t know yet if that will get picked up, so if it doesn’t, him starring in Divergent could be a good rebound project? From watching him in Disneys PROM playing a bad boy, I see him being able to pull of Fours characteristics, it could be the breakthrough role for him that he needs.

Max Thieriot:
Child actor Max can’t be seen in much lately and he’s yet to make his transition from kid movies to pre-teen movies and Divergent could be the role for him. With a partial beard he looks old enough to pull of the role of Four and I think he could have great chemistry with Shailene Woodley, and it’d be great to see him on screen again, most would question that he isn’t what they pictured when thinking of Four, but most of the time when it comes to adaptations, fans always recoil at whoever has been picked at first.

Evan Peters:
Another one of my personal favourites is Tate Langdon, oh wait, I mean Evan Peters. After falling hopelessly in love with American Horror Story and Tate, I really feel like Evan isn’t being given the credit he deserves as an actor. He’s versatile and can pull off the brooding, tortured, sexy traits of Four, and with his darker locks, even resembles a little of how Four is described in the books. He isn’t seen in much movies, so starring Divergent could be his foot in the door for Hollywood, and even though he’s confirmed for Season 3 of AHS, they’re only around 12 episodes and so he’d have plenty of time to shoot Divergent.

Now that I’ve told you my thoughts on casting Four, I’d like to hear your guys’ thoughts and choices on who you’d pick as Four, one of the guys I’ve spoken about, or someone I haven’t named?

Divergent Casting: EXCLUSIVE – Jai Courtney

Adaptation, Book to Movie, Casting, Gossip
Jai Courtney

Jai Courtney

According to my sources, I’ve learnt that Jai Courtney, who can recently be seen in the recent Die Hard playing John McClanes son, has landed a role in the upcoming adaptation of Divergent.

He’s joining the recently cast Maggie Q, Zoe Kravitz and Ansel Elgort.
Shailene Woodley will be playing leading lady Beatrice Prior.
What we don’t know yet is what role he’ll be playing but as soon as I find out I’ll be sure to let you all know.

Who do you think he’ll play?
My moneys on Eric!

UPDATE:
Turns out my guess was right, it has been confirmed that Jai Courtney will be playing Eric.

Leave your comments down below guys.

ABC’s Westside Casts: Luke Bracey

ABC, Casting, Pilot
Luke Bracey

Luke Bracey

ABC have cast their latest male lead for the many pilots they have this year.

Luke Bracey will be joining Westside, (previously known as Venice) as sexy Chris Carver who is released from a six-year prison sentence for dealing marijuana. He hopes to move to Costa Rica and start his life over, but finds himself quickly sucked back into the drama of the Carver family… and falling for the daughter of his family’s chief rival, Sophie Nance.
Odette Annable will be playing love interest Sophie Nance. She can be seen on Banshee, and is known for her role in the final season of House.

Venice is about two rival families, the Nances and the Carvers, and a forbidden and dangerous romance emerging between them as the families battle for control of Venice.

I’m definitely adding this to my list of pilots I’d love to see picked up!

Pilot Season 2013-2014: My Favourites So Far

ABC, CBS, CW Show, FOX, NBC, Pilot

If someone asks me what my favourite season is, I always answer Pilot, most people don’t understand what I mean by this, but I guess if you’re reading this, you do.
For those who don’t know what pilot season is, I’ll explain a little.

Every year TV Networks will read through many scripts and decide on whether they want to bring it to TV, once they’ve decided on the scripts they want to adapt, its normally around pilot season time which means they go through the formalities like gaining rights to things, hiring directors, producers, writing the finalised screenplays, and then comes the fun parts, casting the characters.

Once they’ve done all that they will shoot the pilot and then decide on whether they actually do want to order more episodes and make it a full-fledged TV show.
Its also good to remember that hundreds of pilots may come about every year but not every one of them will pass the bar and become a proper TV show, below is a list of pilots that I personally want to see picked up, but there’s no guarantee I’ll get to see them all on television next year.

ABC
Doubt (Drama)
EP : David Shore (House)
DIRECTOR : Thomas Schlamme (The West Wing, Pan Am)
CAST : Rockmond Dunbar (Sons of Anarchy), Greg Grunberg (Heroes, Alias), Kacey Rohl (Hannibal) Carla Gugino (New Girl, Political Animals)
A legal drama focused on a former cop who’s now a cunning but charming low-rent lawyer who uses his street smarts to work the system for his clients while battling his own demons and wooing his ex-wife.

Why I’m Excited?
David Shore brought me one of my all time favourite TV shows when it came to House, and ever since that finished I’ve been on the search for a TV show that has the same feel to that and I’ve come up short everytime.
This pilot definitely reminds me of House, and the cast seems pretty solid as of yet, the only thing that concerns me is I don’t want it to be an exact replica of House as that’ll feel like a rip off but I’m putting my faith in David, & I’m sure he won’t disappoint if this does get picked up.

Gothica (Drama)
EPs : Matt Lopez (The Sorcerer’s Apprentice), Mark Gordon (Grey’s Anatomy), Tara Butters and Michele Fazekas (Reaper)
DIRECTOR : Anand Tucker (Leap Year)
CAST : Raza Jaffrey (Smash), Chris Egan (Kings), Tom Ellis (Merlin), Janet Montgomery (Jersey Girl), Tracie Thoms (Cold Case), Emma Booth (Underbelly), Seth Gabel (Fringe), Melissa George (Hunted, Alias)
A modern-day Gothic soap that weaves together the mythologies of Dracula, Jekyll and Hyde, Frankenstein and Dorian Gray, among others.

Why I’m Excited?
All of the monsters named above have been some of my favourite characters to read about, so to finally give them some recognition and have a TV show based on characters considered monsters is something I’m very excited to see. Another thing I’m excited to see is how ABC will make them likeable as people, as you normally never find yourself rooting for Dracula or Frankenstein etc. (Unless you’re weird like me, haha.)

Killer Women (Drama)
EPs : Hannah Shakespeare (The Playboy Club), Ben Silverman, Sofia Vergara, Luis Balaguer, Martin Campbell
DIRECTOR : Lawrence Trilling (Parenthood, Alias)
CAST : Tricia Helfer (Battlestar Galactica), Marc Blucas (Necessary Roughness), Michael Trucco (Battlestar Galactica), Alex Fernandez (Commander in Chief), Marta Milans
Based on the Argentine series Mujeres Asesinas, it centers on the only woman in the notoriously male Texas Rangers — a ballsy, beautiful badass who knows how to get to the truth and isn’t afraid to ruffle a few feathers.

Why I’m Excited?
Any show that has a strong, sexy, empowering female lead is a must for me. Most TV shows nowadays have male orientated casts or have a female who can’t hold her own, so this pilot is definitely very refreshing in that sense. I also love a good southern accent so the fact that its set in Texas and will have plenty of eye candy is also a plus.

Marvel’s S.H.I.E.L.D. (Drama)
EPs : Joss Whedon (The Avengers), Jed Whedon and Maurissa Tancharoen (Dollhouse)
CAST : Ming-Na (ER), Clark Gregg (reprising his Avengers role), Elizabeth Henstridge (Hollyoaks), Iain De Caestecker (Coronation Street), Brett Dalton (Killing Lincoln), Chloe Bennet (Nashville)
The adventures of the agents of a covert, quasi-military peace-keeping organization, S.H.I.E.L.D. (or the Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division), which was featured in last summer’s Avengers movie.

Why I’m Excited?
The fact that there’s going to be spin-off of one of my favourite superhero movies is the best news I’ve heard in a long time. I enjoyed Avengers immensely and as a big fan of Joss Whedon I just know already this pilot will be a massive hit and its a definite pick up by the looks of things so that gets me even happier.

The Returned (Drama)
EPs : Aaron Zelman (The Killing), JoAnn Alfano (30 Rock), Jon Liebman (Ringer), Dede Gardner, Jeremy Kleiner
CAST : Omar Epps (House), Kurtwood Smith (That ’70s Show), Devin Kelley (Covert Affairs), Frances Fisher, Samaire Armstrong (The Mentalist), Sam Hazeldine, Nicholas Gonzalez (Off the Map, Melrose Place), Mark Hildreth, Landon Gimenez
The potential series asks the provocative question, “What happens when the people you have mourned and buried suddenly appear on your doorstep as if not a day’s gone by? The lives of the people of Arcadia are forever changed when their deceased loved ones return.”

Why I’m Excited?
Any show that has a former House star is something I’m immediately interested in, plus the fact that there’s a supernatural element to it gives it two thumbs up. I also like that this is pretty fresh in terms of pilots so far and quite unique in that there’s never been anything similar to this before.

CBS
Bad Teacher (Comedy)
EPs : Hilary Winston (Community, Happy Endings), Lee Eisenberg, Gene Stupinsky, Sam Hansen, Jimmy Miller
CAST : Ari Graynor (Fringe), David Alan Grier (In Living Color), Ryan Hansen (Veronica Mars), Sara Gilbert (Roseanne)
Based on the film, a sexy, foul-mouthed divorcee becomes a teacher to find her next husband in this single-cam comedy.

Why I’m Excited?
I was a huge fan of the movie mainly because of Justin Timberlake, and although he won’t be starring in this series I’m excited to see how they adapt it into episodes and make it a long running arc rather than a ninety-minute movie. Ryan Hansen was great on 2 Broke Girls which also airs on CBS and so I have no doubt that he’ll bring great things to this pilot if it airs.

Intelligence (Drama)
EPs : Michael Seitzman, David Semel (No Ordinary Family), Tripp Vinson, Rene Echevarria (Terra Nova)
DIRECTOR : David Semel (No Ordinary Family)
CAST : Josh Holloway (Lost), Marg Helgenberger (CSI), Meghan Ory (Once Upon a Time), Michael Rady (Emily Owens, M.D.), James Martinez (Breaking Bad), John Billingsley (True Blood)
Centered at US Cyber Command, and focuses on a unit that has been created around one agent with a very special gift, a microchip that has been implanted in his brain that allows him to access the entire electromagnetic spectrum.

Why I’m Excited?
Josh Holloway. ‘Nuff Said. Oh and I’m ecstatic that Meghan Ory has finally got her own pilot as she definitely has the chops to be female lead and I feel like Once Upon A Time wasn’t showcasing her as best as she could have been.

Super Clyde (Comedy)
EP : Greg Garcia (Raising Hope)
DIRECTOR : Michael Fresco (Raising Hope, Suburgatory)
CAST : Rupert Grint (Harry Potter), Tyler Labine (Animal Practice), Justine Lupe (Harry’s Law)
A single-camera sitcom about a meek fast food worker who decides to become a superhero.

Why I’m Excited?
As a big fan of Harry Potter I’m over the moon that Rupert is finally back on our screens and will be gracing us with his presence every week if the series gets picked up. I also loved Tyler Labine on Reaper and can’t wait to see him and Rupert together.

The CW
The 100 (Drama)
EPs : Jason Rothenberg, Leslie Morgenstein, Gina Girolamo, Matt Miller (Chuck)
DIRECTOR : Bharat Nalluri (Emily Owens, M.D.)
CAST : Eliza Taylor (Neighbours), Bob Morley (Home and Away), Eli Goree (Emily Owens, M.D.), Henry Ian Cusick (Lost), Marie Avgeropoulos (Cult), Paige Turco (Person of Interest), Isaiah Washington (Grey’s Anatomy), Kelly Hu (Arrow), Thomas McDonell (Suburgatory), Christopher Larkin
Based on upcoming Alloy books written by Kass Morgan, the project is set 97 years after a nuclear war has destroyed civilization. A spaceship housing the lone human survivors sends 100 juvenile delinquents back to Earth to investigate the possibility of re-colonizing the planet.

Why I’m Excited?
I’m a fan of anything that comes on The CW and always give every single one of their pilots a chance as its by far my favourite network. This pilot is one of the many I’m excited about that comes from The CW mainly because I like the fact that they’re delinquents and also that they’re an adaptation of books, which I’m also definitely going to be checking out. Another thing I’m excited to see is Thomas McDonell who I’ve been a fan of since Disneys PROM last year. I really do hope it gets picked up as a TV series as it fits in nicely with the network aswell.

The Originals (Drama)
EPs : Julie Plec (The Vampire Diaries), Leslie Morgenstein, Gina Girolamo
CAST : Joseph Morgan, Daniel Gillies, Claire Holt, Phoebe Tonkin, Daniella Pineda (Homeland), Charles Michael Davis (The Game), Danielle Campbell (Prison Break), Leah Pipes (Sorority Row)
This planted pilot, airing as an April episode of The Vampire Diaries, Klaus returns to the French Quarter of New Orleans, a supernatural melting pot that he helped build centuries ago, and is reunited with his diabolical former protégé Marcel.

Why I’m Excited?
GAH, words do not explain how excited I am for this pilot. Its almost a certain pick up and I salute Julie Plec for running with the whole Originals idea. As an avid-fan of The Vampire Diaries I find myself tuning in every week because of one man, Klaus (Joseph Morgan) and now to find out he may have his own TV show is just the icing on top of the cake. I also really enjoy Claire Holt on my TV and so that’s an added plus. The only thing that upsets me is the fact that this pilot puts an end to Klaroline.

Oxygen (Drama)
EPs : Meredith Averill (The Good Wife), Josh Appelbaum, Andre Nemec, Scott Rosenberg, Richard Shepard, Bryan Furst, Sean Furst, Daniel Gutman
DIRECTOR : Gary Fleder (Beauty and the Beast)
CAST : Aimee Teegarden (Friday Night Lights), Matt Lanter (90210), Malese Jow (The Vampire Diaries), Titus Makin Jr. (Glee), Grey Damon (The Secret Circle), Natalie Hall (Pretty Little Liars), Chelsea Gilligan, Greg Finley (The Secret Life of the American Teenager)
Passion and politics threaten the peace and an epic romance ignites between a human girl and an alien boy when he and eight others of his kind (The Orion 9) are integrated into a suburban high school ten years after they and hundreds of others landed on Earth and were immediately consigned to an internment camp where they’ve been imprisoned ever since.

Why I’m Excited?
Aimee Teegarden, Matt Lanter & Malese Jow have all been favourites of mine to watch on TV and so to have a show with all of them on is fantastic! I also like the idea about the alien love triangle as it doesn’t seem to have been done recently, as aliens have taken a back seat for vampires, werewolves, zombies etc. This is a show I definitely pray will get picked up.

The Selection (Drama)
EPs : Elizabeth Craft and Sarah Fain (Dollhouse, Vampire Diaries)
DIRECTOR | Alex Graves (666 Park Ave, Fringe)
CAST : Yael Grobglas, Michael Malarkey, Lucien Laviscount (Coronation Street), Anthony Head (Buffy the Vampire Slayer), Louise Lombard (CSI), Sean Patrick Thomas (Save the Last Dance), Peta Sergeant, Celia Massingham, Sarah Winter (An Adventure in Space and Time)
Getting a pilot order for the second year in a row, the project, based on Kiera Cass’ book series, is an epic romance set 300 years in the future. In it, a poor young woman is chosen by lottery to participate in a competition to become the next queen of a war-torn nation at a crossroads.

Why I’m Excited?
Now, one of the only shows I was excited about last years pilot season was The Selection, but sadly it wasn’t picked up. But in a twist of good luck the CW decided to revamp and recast it for this years pilot season. The network definitely want to keep ahold of this pilot and so I feel it’ll be a definite pick up, something I’m very happy to hear about. The three main leads are fairly unknown but Lucien is someone I’ve watched before and every time I’ve seen him, I’ve loved him so I’m glad he’s landed his breakthrough role. The books are also awesome!

The Tomorrow People (Drama)
EPs : Phil Klemmer (Chuck), Greg Berlanti (Arrow), Julie Plec (The Vampire Diaries), Danny Cannon (Nikita)
DIRECTOR | Danny Cannon (Nikita)
CAST : Peyton List (Mad Men), Luke Mitchell (Home and Away), Robbie Amell (Revenge), Mark Pellegrino (Lost), Madeleine Mantock
Adapted from the 1970s UK series, it follows several young people from around the world who represent the next stage in human evolution, all possessing special powers including the ability to teleport and communicate with each other telepathically. Together they work to defeat the forces of evil.

Why I’m Excited?
Julie and Greg have been trying to gain the rights to TTP for years now and so to finally be moving forward this project is something I’m excited about as I feel like they’ve put a lot of thought into it and a lot of effort.
Robbie Amell is cousin to Stephen Amell star of CW hit show Arrow and from what I’ve seen of him he’ll definitely be another hit if it gets picked up. Luke Mitchell I’ve been a fan off since Home& Away and so to finally see him in a role like this is amazing and I think he’ll do extremely well.

FOX
Delirium (Drama)
EPs : Karyn Usher (Prison Break), Peter Chernin, Katherine Pope
CAST : Emma Roberts (Scream 4), Billy Campbell (The Killing), Daren Kagasoff (Secret Life of the American Teenager), Corey Reynolds (The Closer), Gregg Sulkin (Pretty Little Liars), Jeanine Mason (Bunheads), Michael Michele (ER)
Based on a bestselling trilogy about a world where love is deemed illegal and is able to be eradicated with a special procedure. But with 95 days to go until her scheduled treatment, lead character Lena Holoway does the unthinkable and falls in love.

Why I’m Excited?
I’m a big fan of all three leads and am a fan of the dystopian take on things, this TV pilot is sure to be a hit with the YA market and I think FOX can definitely do it justice. Its also nice to see Emma Roberts back on our TV screens.

Untitled J.J. Abrams/J.H. Wyman Project (Drama)
EPs : J.H. Wyman, J.J. Abrams and Bryan Burk (Fringe)
DIRECTOR : Brad Anderson (Fringe)
CAST : Karl Urban (Star Trek), Michael Ealy (Common Law), Lili Taylor (Six Feet Under), Minka Kelly (Friday Night Lights), Michael Irby (The Unit), Mackenzie Crook (Pirates of the Caribbean)
An action-packed buddy cop show set in the near future when all LAPD officers are partnered with highly evolved human-like androids.

Why I’m Excited?
FOX did good by landing Karl Urban as a lead for this already fantastic looking premise. Another hit is Michael Ealy who I can see doing great as a human like android. Minka Kelly has been a favourite of mine for a long time and so I’m excited to see her on my TV again. With a cast like this FOX are sure to make a hit with this.

NBC
About a Boy (Comedy)
EP : Jason Katims (Parenthood)
DIRECTOR : Jon Favreau (Revolution, Iron Man)
CAST : David Walton (New Girl), Minnie Driver (The Riches), Anjelah N. Johnson (MADtv), Benjamin Stockham (1600 Penn), Leslie Bibb (GCB)
Based on the book and subsequent 2002 film starring Hugh Grant and Nicholas Hoult, the single-cam comedy centers on the relationship between a man-child and the young boy who moves in next door.

Why I’m Excited?
As a fan of the original movie and David Walton I’m super excited to see how they transition it from movie to tv, and I think Walton is perfect as the man child who lives next door, as from watching New Girl we know he does comedy well.

Believe (Drama)
EPs : Alfonso Cuaron (Children of Men), J.J. Abrams and Bryan Burk (Fringe)
CAST : Kyle MacLachlan (Desperate Housewives), Johnny Sequoyah, Jake McLaughlin (Savages), Delroy Lindo (The Chicago Code), Jamie Chung (Once Upon a Time), Sienna Guillory (Resident Evil)
Follows an unlikely relationship between a gifted young girl and a man sprung from prison who has been tasked with protecting her from the evil elements that hunt her power.

Why I’m Excited?
This is probably the pilot I’m most excited about as it has everything I look for in TV, an ex convict, supernatural elements, and an obvious romance. I love the whole ex-con protecting a young girl aspect of things, and if it doesn’t get picked up I may just shed a few tears. With a strong cast so far I feel like NBC most definitely will pick this up, it also helps that J.J Abrams is on board as Executive Producer as his pilot from last year Revolution turned out to be a hit. I can definitely see NBC pairing both shows up which will give Believe a great lead in.

The Blacklist (Drama)
EPs : Jon Bokenkamp (Perfect Stranger), John Eisendrath (Alias), John Fox, John Davis
CAST : James Spader (The Office), Megan Boone (Law & Order: LA), Ryan Eggold (90210)
The world’s most wanted criminal suddenly turns himself in and offers to give up anyone he’s ever worked with. The catch: He’ll only work with a new FBI agent, one with whom he has no known connection.

Why I’m Excited?
As a fan of FOX’s new drama the Following you can see why I’m instantly interested in this pilot? It sounds similar but I think it can definitely stand on its own if NBC go about it the right way.

Bloodline (Drama)
EPs : David Graziano (Awake), Peter Berg and Sarah Aubrey (Friday Night Lights)
DIRECTOR : Peter Berg (Friday Night Lights)
CAST : Skyler Samuels (The Nine Lives of Chloe King), Jonathan Banks (Breaking Bad), KaDee Strickland (Private Practice), Chris Zylka (The Secret Circle)
The Kill Bill-esque stylized drama follows an orphaned girl named Bird Benson who’s caught between two families of murderers and mercenaries. In order to eventually have a normal life, Bird learns, she must defeat her mother via mortal combat.

Why I’m Excited?
A strong empowering lead once again? Yes please. This pilot is definitely unique and right up my street with the whole Kill Bill take on things. One thing I should suggest is that they change the leads name from Bird Benson to well anything? I’m also excited to see Chris Zylka back on my screen as I enjoyed seeing him in the short lived CW show The Secret Circle.

Hatfields & McCoys (Drama)
EPs : John Glenn (Eagle Eye), Charlize Theron, AJ Dix, Dawn Olmstead, Beau Flynn
CAST : Virginia Madsen (Sideways, Scoundrels), Rebecca De Mornay (John From Cincinnati), Jesse Lee Soffer (The Mob Doctor), Patrick Flueger (The 4400), Sophia Bush (One Tree Hill), Nick Westrate, Annie Ilonzeh (Charlie’s Angels, Switched at Birth), James Remar (Dexter)
Set in present-day Pittsburgh. When a startling death re-ignites the two clans’ legendary battles, the blue collar McCoys will put the Hatfields’ wealth and power at risk as they go to war for control of the city.

Why I’m Excited?
Charlize Theron is an Executive Producer for this show, so I’m definitely on board as I’m a massive fan of hers, I’m also excited to see Sophia Bush on screen again, hopefully its her year this year. A clash of any sort always reels me in and this pilot premise has done just that.

The Sixth Gun (Drama)
EPs : Newcomer Ryan Condal, Carlton Cuse (Lost), Eric Gitter (Scott Pilgrim vs. the World), Andy Borne
DIRECTOR : Jeffrey Reiner (Awake)
CAST : Michiel Huisman (Nashville, Treme), Laura Ramsey (The Ruins), W. Earl Brown (Deadwood), Graham McTavish (The Hobbit), Aldis Hodge (Leverage), Pedro Pascal (The Good Wife), James LeGros (Ally McBeal), Chin Han (The Dark Knight)
Based on the graphic novel of the same name, the supernatural western examines six mythical guns that each have their own otherworldly powers.

Why I’m Excited?
Another pilot I really hope gets picked up. You can check out a proper in-depth look at this on my previous post. But its got love, supernatural elements, action, its western, AND its a comic book adaptation. I’m definitely in love.

That’s it for all the pilots I’m excited about this year, with any luck atleast eleven of them will be picked up.
The few I hope and pray will do good are-
‘Believe’
‘The Sixth Gun’
‘The Selection’
‘Delirium’
‘Tomorrow People’
‘The Originals
‘Oxygen’
‘The 100’
‘Shield’
‘Intelligence’
‘Bloodline’

Comment below on which pilots you are excited for, and let me know if you think I’m missing out on any I might enjoy?

NBC Pilot: The Sixth Gun Casts Leads

(above-below) Laura Ramsey, Michiel Huisman

Pilot season is in full steam ahead of us and this year I’m a lot more excited for pilots than I was last year.

One pilot that I hope gets picked up is the Carlton Cuse produced comic-book adaptation of The Sixth Gun.

The Supernatural Western comic follows the story of six mythical guns, each with its own other-worldly power. When the Sixth Gun, the most powerful and dangerous of them all, resurfaces in the hands of an innocent girl, a farmer’s daughter named Becky Montcrief, dark forces reawaken.

Laura Ramsey will be playing Becky Montcrief, the farmers daughter, while Michiel Huisman will play Drake Sinclair, a handsome rogue gunslinger. He comes from a shadowy past of mixed allegiances, and is searching for the Sixth Gun because he believes it will lead to great treasure.

They both join the previously casted: W.Earl Brown, Aldis Hodge, Graham McTavish, Pedro Pascal, Chin Han & James Legros.

Be sure to check out my post on all the pilots I’m excited about this year for Fall 2013-2014.

The Selection Casts Its Male Leads: Prince Maxon + Aspen

The CW pilot The Selection have finally found their male leads in British newcomers Lucien Laviscount and Michael Malarkey.

Lucien Laviscount who is well known in England for his roles in Waterloo Rd and soap Coronation Street has been cast as Aspen, who is America Singers (Yael Grobglas) ‘childhood’ love.
Aspen was played by Brit’ William Moseley last year, and one big change you’ll realise this year is that Lucien is of a mixed race descent, its a big change since in the books Aspen is Caucasian, I for one am glad the CW have decided to shake this around abit though.

Michael Malarkey who can only be seen in plays on stage so far has been cast as Maxon, who was played by Ethan Peck last year. Maxon is the Prince who 26 girls are vying for as part of the competition to become his bride.
Do you prefer the leads this year to last?

How To Get Away With Murder – Pilot Review

It’s that time of the year again, yes, it’s pilot season! My favourite season if you exclude Autumn/Fall.

Sadly this year there aren’t a lot of pilots I’m excited for, in fact I can count all of them on just one hand; HTGAWM, Constantine, The Flash, Scorpion and Gotham. (This list obviously doesn’t include the pilots that will air mid season, those of which I have more hope for.)
So this meant I had a lot riding on HTGAWM as I wanted it to be great, I love Scandal and Greys Anatomy and in my head Shonda does no wrong.
AND BOY OH BOY, SHE DOES NOT DISAPPOINT!

This show is a wonderful mix of mystery, romance, suspense, drama and comedy. It has everything I could have hoped for in a show, let alone just a pilot.

In a nutshell the show is based around five students of the infamous Annalise Keating, (played by the wonderful Viola Davis) who get sucked into her world. Which just so happens to include, adultery/unlikely alliances/secrets and, you guessed it… murder.

The characters, of which there are many considering it’s a Shonda show, are personally some of my favourites on TV right now. Yes, I know I’ve only seen the pilot but I’m sure in my statement, seriously.

A couple of standouts for me are Connor Walsh, a supposed pretty boy with all the answers who definitely for me, is the second most intriguing. The actor playing him, Jack Falahee, has a commanding presence on screen and manages to convey both sides of his cocky yet sincere personality.
Now onto the character which I’m most excited to see progress, Laurel Castillo, played by the beauty that is Karla Souza. Laurel is definitely the underdog of the show, she’s fairly quiet and seems to lack confidence but in a show full of characters who are loud, you can’t help but appreciate her.
Another character I’m glad they’ve included is Asher, (Matt Mcgorry) the comedic relief in the form of a privileged entitled boy. Out of the five students, he seems the most expendable, the most unused, yet at the same time I really hope they keep him around. He’s so clueless at times you kind of have to love him.

Some of the story lines I’m looking forward to that were set up in the pilot – *spoilers ahead*
Whodunnit? The murder of Lila Stangard. My bet is on the husband of Annalise Keating. Come on, him and Lila were blatantly doing the deed (ps. He was her professor).
Frank and Laurel aka Flaurel (is that what they’re called?): I love a good romance subplot and this one looks to be the most exciting I’ve seen in a while… Frank is your typical macho man, and the right hand to Annalise Keating, alongside Bonnie. Frank has a little bit of a past with the students of Annalise and in the pilot, Bonnie warns him against Laurel. CUE THE TEACHER STUDENT RELATIONSHIP WOO!

All in all a five star pilot that I have faith will be successful, I mean come on it is a Shonda show.
